Ember & Ash, the duo forged by Erin Zindle and Alex Holycross, is as captivating and dangerous as a spark on the wind in the dry season. Armed with fiddle and guitar, these two Michigan songwriters have had long careers, both defying genre boundaries in their own respective bands (The Native Howl’s “Thrash Grass” and The Ragbirds’ edgy global folk-rock).

Known for his soulful interpretation of Prine’s classics and his engaging stage presence, Mark Lavengood and his talented band will honor the remarkable legacy of one of America’s most beloved troubadours. Together with Michigan powerhouses Jen Sygit, Grace Theisen, Chris Zehnder and the house band featuring Loren Kranz, Dutcher Snedeker, and Jerry Wenger, fans can expect an evening filled with laughter, poignancy, and the timeless storytelling that Prine embodied.

A native of Michigan, Rochelle Clark’s music has been described as raw, honest, and beautifully vulnerable. She writes and sings about real life, joy, struggle and human tragedy – you can’t help but feel for the characters in her songs. Leaning heavily on personal experience, she connects on an intimate level that resonates with her audience.

The 21st Annual celebration of love and music hosted featuring Annie & Rod Capps, Shari Kane & Dave Steele, and Whit & Al Hill. Three acclaimed musical duos who also happen to be partners in life share the stage, swapping songs and stories. You can expect some collaborating both planned and spontaneous.

Grant Flick is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, educator, and collaborative artist currently based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. While his main instrument is violin he typically inhabits spaces where it is not uncommon to find him playing nyckelharpa, tenor guitar, mandolin, or just about any other fifth-tuned stringed instrument. He lives fluidally between idioms/genres with a focus on original instrumental music primarily influenced by American improvisational idioms (bluegrass, jazz, new acoustic music, etc.), the music of Django Reinhardt & Stephane Grappelli, and chamber music both new and old.

Ann Arbor’s own Davis Caruso & Giancarlo Robert make up the writer / producer duo that is making .wavs in the industry by taking the road less traveled and building local buzz around a multifaceted web of creatives. Be sure to catch them performing their new soul record entitled “The Way Home” for the first time as a full band featuring local Singer/Songwriter Kyandé, Bass aficionado Andrés Soto & Detroit Artist/ Producer/ Drum wizard David Ward.”

Giving traditional Jewish music a new flavor by infusing elements of jazz, balkan, funk, latin, and polka, Schmaltz blends traditional Klezmer sensibilities with modern influences to produce their energetic, horn forward sound. With roots deeply seeded at the University of Michigan, the band features a number of SMTD alumni and is proud to call Ann Arbor home.

Born and raised in Clarkston, Michigan, Larkn grew up singing in church choir, spending summers on sparkling Lake Michigan and writing nature-filled poetry inspired by Michigan’s four distinctive seasons. She attended Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA) for voice and contemporary writing and production. Her music is inspired by the ups and downs of her life journey, California, love, nature and introspection.
