The Ark's 24th Annual Fall Fundraiser - A Virtual Evening with We Banjo 3

About The Event:

The Ark’s annual Fall Fundraiser is our second largest annual fundraiser (after the Ann Arbor Folk Festival). In its 24th year, we’re taking to the internet with an entirely virtual show. See below for all ticket levels and benefits. Our premium ticket levels include a tax-deductible contribution to The Ark.

We last saw We Banjo 3 at The Ark at the beginning of March, just before our pandemic shutdown began. The band has been busy since then, with such events as the virtual online Irish music festival Follow the Light (and Martin Howley's appearance in in our Ark Family Room with his wife, Chelsea-born fiddler Kiana June Weber in July). Tonight's online show benefits The Ark! It's a virtual evening that will include an exclusive performance from and conversation with the band (Acoustic Cafe's Rob Reinhart will MC and interview) as well as never-before-released footage from We Banjo 3’s live album recording at The Ark in 2019. Premium ticket levels include dinner delivered to your home by Simply Scrumptious Catering. All tickets also include a limited edition WB3/Ark #ArkFamly t-shirt.

Tickets range from $10-$500 per household and help The Ark stay afloat and continue to present the best folk, roots and acoustic music in the world! See below for ticket details, and don't forget to participate in this year’s online Silent Auction which runs through 9pm on September 20!

About The Band:

"An Irish quartet transcending even the best superlatives" —Huffington Post

Debuting in the U.S. in 2012, We Banjo 3 has since emerged as fast-rising touring darlings in the country that two of the members now call home. The Galway, Ireland, Michigan, and Nashville–based quartet––comprising two sets of brothers, Enda & Fergal Scahill and Martin & David Howley––continually push musical boundaries while maintaining an unwavering devotion to the varied traditions of Americana, bluegrass, and Celtic music with pop-sensible songcraft to create a truly gratifying signature sound. Brilliantly commanded instruments––banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and percussion––effortlessly elevate lead singer David Howley’s propulsive voice. Live on stage, their songs carry the listener along until, at the perfect moment, the band crescendos into catchy choruses with pitch-perfect harmonies.

We Banjo 3 deliver their music with such palpable rapport, stunning precision, and infectious energy, it’s impossible to pigeonhole who might suddenly consider themselves a WB3 fan. With recent stunning performances at such broad-ranging festivals Merlefest, BottleRock, Summercamp, ROMP, Wintergrass, as well as virtually every major U.S. Celtic festival, enthusiasts of almost every genre of music are taking notice. Actor/comedian and musician Steve Martin says of the band, "We Banjo 3...are making waves ... here in America. They are playing the banjo in a style that I didn’t even know could be played like that." Says Elmore Music: "It’s as if the Punch Brothers, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas and the Chieftains all got together for a battle of the bands but decided to pool their resources instead. The future of World Music has arrived."
