Weather Channel Grass
Don Julin

Don Julin, author of the best-selling Mandolin For Dummies and creator of the online mandolin school Mandolins Heal The World, is renowned as one of the most eclectic mandolin players and educators today. With over 20 original albums and compositions featured on HBO, NBC, Showtime, and more, Julin’s music spans genres and generations. His latest release, Fractured Fiddle Tunes, reimagines traditional fiddle tunes with bold creativity. Julin also played a pivotal role in launching the bluegrass phenom Billy Strings’ career, touring as a duo from 2013–2015 and recording two celebrated albums.

With their genre-bending approach and dynamic interplay, Don Julin’s Trio 25 delivers a fresh, unpredictable concert experience that is as innovative as it is entertaining. The trio will feature selections from “Fractured Fiddle Tunes” and a few of Julin’s original compositions. Recently, during a concert, Julin told the audience, “We may have invented a genre called Weather Channel Grass.” Don Julin’s Trio 25 features Tom Knific on bass and Hayes Griffin on guitar.

The Ark’s Artist Spotlight Series is made possible with support from Ford Philanthropy. It is presented live, and also livestreamed on The Ark’s Facebook page.

Tonight’s show is FREE (nonperishables accepted for Food Gatherers).
