"Punk rock's poet laureate"
All Music Guide
Patti Smith is one of rock music's great freethinkers and independent spirits, and her 1975 album "Horses" is on just about every list of the most influential pieces of music-making of the rock era. Smith brought poetry to punk rock, fundamentally influencing female and male artists down to the present day. She has never split her work between straight-ahead rock and avant-garde experimentation, often making the two bump up against each other during the same album or the same performance. The Ark and AEG Live are proud to present Patti Smith at The Royal Oak Music Theater, where you can pick up copies of her many recent books including the National Book Award–winning memoir "M Train."
