A few years ago Vienna Teng came to southeastern Michigan for the first time—and we fell in love. This artist has a real bond with Michigan audiences, and she ended up earning her master's in sustainable enterprise at the U-M while continuing to perform. Her music has continued to develop from its beginnings in sophisticated piano pop, and her live shows, involving loops and other electronics, are spellbinding. Her lyrics and her conceptions of beats intertwine to a degree matched by few other contemporary songwriters. Rising Charleston singer-songwriter Katie Rose opens.
