New chamber folk from Ypsilanti
Says Pulp: "Joanna Ransdell's voice is an audible red light that commands you to stop whatever you were doing and just listen to her sing." Joanna, who graduated from Community High School in Ann Arbor, may bring to mind Patty Griffin or Stevie Nicks, but her lyrics are all her own: smart and personal at the same time. Joanna & The Jaywalkers come to The Ark with their new album, Joanna's first with her band. It's called "The Open Sea Before Me," and it has an open way of approaching intimate experiences that she takes from her day job as a therapist. This is a FREE show. Nonperishables are accepted for Food Gatherers.
