Gemini (twin brothers San and Laz Slomovits) have been Ark regulars, appearing at the club at least once and usually several times every year since moving to Ann Arbor in 1973. Especially acclaimed for their shows for children and families, they are now entertaining their third – or is it their fourth – generation of fans. They’ve played an annual family concert for Ark audiences on the Sunday after Thanksgiving every year since 1994 to benefit Mott Children’s Hospital, where San’s daughter, Emily was born. Emily will join the brothers for this show as she has every year since 2003 when she was just nine years old. The trio, now redubbed Gemily, (Gemini+Emily) combine wonderful singing and instrumental prowess on more than half a dozen instruments with lively, sparkling original songs and traditional folk music from many countries and cultures. In addition to their exceptional musicianship, the trio brings an easy stage presence to all their shows and draws their audiences into joyful music-making with them.
This year’s concert will again be online.
