Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \n2026 Christmas Tour Thoughts \nOne December\, not long after Over the Rhine began recording and touring\, we were invited to perform some seasonal songs on a public radio station. We worked up a few carols and traditional tunes.  \nIt actually felt really good and conjured up an unusual mix of feelings from childhood: innocence\, loss\, wonder\, joy\, sadness. I think we were surprised. \nPeople must have tuned into the radio broadcast\, because we began receiving inquiries as to whether we had recorded any of our Christmas songs.  \nIn December of 1996 – can it really be 30 years ago? – we recorded and released our first song cycle of some of the Christmas carols that still haunted us. We included a few original tunes and called our wintry mix The Darkest Night Of The Year. Folks began snatching up copies and seemed to agree that they hadn’t heard anything quite like it. \nWe began playing concerts around the Midwest every December and found that the rooms were usually packed full of people who had bundled in out of the cold. If you stepped outside during intermission\, you could make ghosts with your breath in the crisp night air. And it was dark – oh so dark: a time of year with its own music. \nA decade later\, in 2006\, we released our first full collection of original Christmas/holiday songs called Snow Angels. What is it about Christmas music and the undeniable gravitational pull it exerts on some songwriters? So many Christmas songs have already been written. I think we remain genuinely curious about the ones that haven’t yet been written. \nWe continued to tour every December and these special year-winding-down concerts began to feel like an annual tradition – gatherings of extended musical family\, without whom\, we’d be homeless. \nWe released our third holiday album of original songs\, Blood Oranges In The Snow\, in December of 2014. One enthusiastic fan wrote to us\, I just love your new Christmas album\, Blood On The Oranges. We’re dark but not that dark. \nOn our 2026 tour\, we will be leaning into some harmonies and making an intimate but hopefully holy ruckus. It won’t be all Christmas music: we’ll certainly mix in tunes from many of our records along the way. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nAs a child\, if you’re lucky\, summer afternoons stretch out like a yawn\, pool waves are as warm and engulfing as a blanket\, the safety of your mother’s arms feels endless. On her new album\, Neon Summer Skin\, Bedouine\, the project of Azniv Korkejian\, explores this feeling of safety long before one can fully understand the concept. Written with vivid\, honest and intimate imagery after visiting her family in Saudi Arabia\, it tells the story of family and upbringing\, and mourns the end of her childhood. There is a singular resonance and newfound heft in this music previously unheard in Bedouine’s discography.  \nBedouine is known for making gentle\, lilting folk songs that build fingerpicked guitar melodies into tsunamis of emotion. Her masterful songwriting and timeless melodies have earned her praise from publications like Pitchfork\, who said her music “boasts a surreal calm and lived in glow\,” and Rolling Stone\, who lauded her “humble folk-pop brilliance\,” plus an NPR Tiny Desk Concert\, and tours with the likes of Fleet Foxes and Father John Misty.  \nAs personal as her songs have been\, they’ve often built upon universal experiences. The writing on Neon Summer Skin\, however\, is full of specific memories: a neon swim suit\, beads of water dripping down tangled hair\, the blood of a lamb\, often sacrificed at Syrian weddings\, oozing across the pavement. “It was the first time I had the inclination to write a record about one main subject which gave me a clarity and motivation I hadn’t quite had before.”  \nBedouine started working on the record after a trip to Saudi Arabia to visit her parents. She correctly assumed it would be her last one there because her family was retiring to Armenia. “For my 20s and much of my 30s\, I couldn’t sit still\,” she says. “I would pack my car and move to a new place. I was so curious about my own independence that it just didn’t occur to me for the longest time to mourn the past. But after that trip\, I came home and was so devastated. I couldn’t place the feeling immediately\, but as I started writing\, I realized I was processing that I wasn’t ready to stop being somebody’s kid.  \nShe co-produced most of the songs with her longtime collaborator\, Gus Seyffert\, and wrote with the sweet pop melodies of Todd Rundgren\, Karen Carpenter\, and Carole King in mind. She also worked on a couple of tracks with producer Jonathan Rado with Michael and Brian D’Addario of the Lemon Twigs.  “It was important to me to try to approach some of the production of this record a little differently\, just to try something new\,” she says. The result is a fuller\, more playful sound\, at times grand and orchestral\, shimmery and surreal\, inflected with bits of psychedelia\, bossa nova\, and jazz.

Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nTerry is a seasoned professional musician. Starting from a young age in his family band\, Terry’s music career has taken him to all four corners of the country and beyond as a player and band leader\, including a 2-year stint as lead guitarist with surf legends Jan & Dean\, and 3 years of national touring with his original rock & roll band\, The Bead Band. In the 1990’s\, after several years living in Los Angeles\, he spent 6 years studying classical guitar at the University of Denver and the Cleveland Institute of Music. At the turn of the century Terry returned to his roots creating several solo CDs featuring a fusion of styles and players – and all original songs. Terry has been artistic director and musical director for many initiatives including the live radio show\, Radio Free Bacon\, and has toured the US and Canada extensively as part of various groups.
