SUMMARY:Girl Named Tom
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nThree siblings unlock one harmony to unite the world as  Girl Named Tom. The trio—Bekah\,  Joshua\, and Caleb Liechty—notably made history as the only group to ever win NBC’s  The Voice.  Along the way\, they’ve impressively generated over 25 million streams across chart-rattling covers such as  “River\,” “The Chain\,” and  “Dust in the Wind.”  The proud Midwesterners gained further traction with the independent release of Another World  EP. In 2022\, they served up their debut holiday EP\,  One More Christmas\, which reached #1 on the iTunes Charts\, and embarked on a massive arena tour supporting  Pentatonix  for  “A Christmas Spectacular.”  \nSince 2022 the group has been living life on the road performing over 200 shows to date. The sibling trio has captivated millions on television\, appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show\, singing for the Indy500\, and returning for a heart wrenching performance on The Voice Finale a year after their win. Their inimitable harmony will only continue to resound louder with their most recent release “Locked In Your Love”

SUMMARY:Joan Shelley
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nJoan Shelley is a songwriter and singer who draws inspiration from traditional and traditionally-minded performers from her native Kentucky\, as well as those from Ireland\, Scotland\, and England\, but she’s not a folksinger. Her disposition aligns more closely with that of\, say\, Roger Miller\, Dolly Parton\, or Tom T. Hall\, who once explained—simply\, succinctly\, in a song—“I Witness Life.” Her latest release is the 5-song Mood Ring EP. It was praised by The New York Times\, MOJO and Pitchfork.

SUMMARY:Matt Andersen
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nWhen Matt Andersen steps on stage\, he brings a lifetime of music to every note he plays. His latest album\, The Big Bottle of Joy\, is all about hard-won celebration; a dozen songs infused with raw blues-rock\, rollicking Americana\, thoughtful folk\, and ecstatic gospel. Andersen’s stage presence is informed by decades of cutting his teeth in dusty clubs\, dim-lit bars\, and grand theatres all over the world\, delivering soulful performances that run the gamut from intimate to wall-shaking. In the studio\, he’s always brought the same attention to detail and commitment to craft as he has to his live show\, and the result – a multi-faceted and poignant body of work – has led him to amass over 31 million streams on Spotify and 30 million views on YouTube.  \nIn addition to headlining major festivals\, clubs and theatres throughout North America\, Europe\, and Australia\, he has shared the stage and toured with Marcus King\, Beth Hart\, Marty Stuart\, Greg Allman\, Tedeschi Trucks Band\, Randy Bachman\, Serena Ryder\, Tab Benoit\, and more. Andersen nabbed the 2013 and 2016 European Blues Awards for Best Solo/Acoustic Act\, was the first ever Canadian to take home top honours in the solo category at the 2010 International Blues Challenge in Memphis\, won the CIMA Road Gold award in 2015\, and has won multiple Maple Blues Awards. Matt Andersen & The Big Bottle of Joy was nominated for a Juno Award in 2024.

SUMMARY:Mary Fahl\, former lead singer for October Project
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nMary Fahl is an expressive\, emotional singer/songwriter who first achieved fame as lead singer and co-founder of the mid-1990s NYC-based chamber-pop group October Project\, a band known for their lush harmonies\, sweeping melodies and Fahl’s unique and powerful vocals. After two records on Epic\, Fahl had more freedom to pursue her own muse\, whether that meant writing and recording songs for movies (including the theme for the Civil War epic “Gods and Generals”)\, singing arias and medieval Spanish songs for Sony Classical\, or releasing a unique album-length take on “Dark Side of the Moon”… \nWith an earthy\, viscerally powerful contralto that bridges the generational gap between Fairport Convention’s Sandy Denny and London Grammar’s Hannah Reid\, Mary Fahl makes music that feels timeless\, esoteric and ecumenical. Her elegant\, cinematic songs have a hauntingly gothic romanticism that inspired renowned writer Anne Rice to portray Mary’s voice emanating from a dead woman’s room in her 2013 novel The Wolves of Midwinter. \nOver the past few years\, she’s been touring and recording on her own label\, Rimar Records\, and her recent releases have garnered awards including an Indie Acoustic Award for Best Live Album for “Live at the Mauch Chunk Opera House” (filmed for PBS) and a 2020 Independent Music Award for her holiday album\, “Winter Songs and Carols”. Her 2021 release “From the Dark Side of the Moon” won the Immersive Album Audio Listener’s Choice award and was named “Immersive Album of the Year” by Life in Surround. Now she returns with “Can’t Get It Out of My Head”. In an effort to find some light and comfort during these challenging times\, singer/songwriter Fahl looks back to some of the essential music that has brought her sustenance and clarity by reinterpreting songs from her greatest inspirations: Pink Floyd\, George Harrison\, Moody Blues\, ELO\, The Rolling Stones\, Neil Young and others. For Mary\, this is a tribute to the music that defined her as an artist.

SUMMARY:Low Cut Connie
DESCRIPTION:“This record is all kink and no shame\,” says Adam Weiner of ART DEALERS\, the tough\, sexy and tender new album coming from Low Cut Connie. “With Low Cut Connie\, I try to create a safe space for you to just absolutely get your freak on.” \nFor years now\, Low Cut Connie has built its grassroots coalition of oddballs\, underdogs\, and fun-loving weirdos with songs that celebrate life on the fringes of polite society. The band’s infamously wild\, passionate live shows provide a total release – of stress\, of inhibition\, of shame – working up a primordial rock n roll sweat for fans to get blissfully soaked in. The new album\, and its full-length companion film\, sizzle with that same cathartic sweat\, reminding us that it’s time to get dirty again\, and to feel alive. ART DEALERS sits at the intersection of sleazy and soulful – a collection of risky\, romantic\, life-affirming anthems\, all dedicated to you.

DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nAward-winning and Billboard-charting artist Flamy Grant is a shame-slaying\, hip-swaying\, singing-songwriting drag queen from western North Carolina. Her 2022 debut record\, Bible Belt Baby\, was nominated for Best Pop Album at the San Diego Music Awards and was named one of the Top Ten Queer Country Albums of 2023 by Rainbow Rodeo Magazine. Flamy is a finalist for Artist of the Year at the 2025 International Folk Music Awards and is a winner of the 2023 Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Competition\, a nominee for the 2023 QueerX Award for Best Drag Artist\, and a nominee for the 2023 Queerty Awards Drag Royalty. Both a powerhouse vocalist and an intrepid songwriter\, Flamy blends the evocative art of drag with her iconic mix of country\, gospel\, folk\, and roots music. \nIt’s no accident that Flamy’s drag name is an homage to Amy Grant\, the undisputed queen of Christian music and 90s chart-topping pop artist. Much of Flamy’s music centers on the queer spiritual journey\, telling stories of resilience and recovery from religious trauma in a world where LGBTQ+ people are frequently ignored by\, harmed in\, or ejected from religious spaces. With a bold lip\, a big lash\, and a blistering voice\, Flamy drags audiences to a soulful\, uplifting church of her own making.

DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nOver the past twenty years\, Michigan-based Joshua Davis has honed an impressive range of skills – songwriter\, bandleader\, guitarist\, and vocalist among them – in the most honest possible fashion: night after night\, song after song\, show after show Davis simply delivered every performance as though his life depended on it. Investing himself in the American musical diaspora\, he has explored the common thread connecting folk\, blues\, jazz\, ragtime\, and country forms – discovering his personal perspective as a composer in the process. “The music that moves me is imperfect\, honest and raw.” Joshua explains\, “Those qualities are what turned me on to Delta blues\, to punk rock\, to old soul\, and traditional music from all over the globe. It’s all about feel. It’s ragged but right.” His versatility and ravenous musical curiosity has resulted in a divergent and fervent output. Joshua was a finalist on Season 8 of NBC’s “The Voice\,” where he was the first contestant to sing an original song on the show. \nJoshua will be joined by multi-instrumentalist Brad Phillips. Holding both bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Michigan School of Music\, Theatre & Dance\, Brad’s work as a fiddler\, violinist\, mandolinist\, guitarist\, arranger\, composer\, producer\, and teacher have made him one of the area’s most sought-after acoustic musicians. \nOpening the show will be one of Davis’ recent songwriting graduates from Interlochen Arts Academy\, Zinnia Dungjen.

SUMMARY:Eric Johanson
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nEric Johanson blends sharp songwriting with a deep connection to the guitar\, creating music that’s dynamic\, soulful\, and rooted in a mix of rock\, blues\, and modern influences. His playing is expressive without being flashy—riff-driven and rhythmic one moment\, fluid and melodic the next—always serving the song rather than overpowering it. There’s a rawness to his sound\, but also a sense of purpose\, pulling from the weight of tradition while pushing toward something new. Whether channeling the swampy pulse of his New Orleans home or leaning into heavier\, fuzz-laden textures\, Johanson’s music strikes a balance between grit and finesse\, power and restraint. As American Songwriter puts it\, he “displays his guitar prowess but within the borders of melodies and lyrics that push the boundaries of blues/rock… searing guitar work\, and persuasive songwriting.” \nSince the release of The Deep and the Dirty\, Johanson has toured extensively\, playing over 100 cities and 10 countries in 2024 alone. His momentum has landed him at the top of the Billboard Blues Chart and on stages alongside some of the most respected names in rock and roots music. Named one of the 25 Best New Blues Guitarists by Guitar Player Magazine and included in Total Guitar’s list of the 100 Greatest Blues Guitarists of All Time\, he’s carved out a space where strong songwriting and distinctive guitar work go hand in hand. Whether on record or on stage\, Johanson’s playing is electrifying\, his voice unfiltered\, and his approach unmistakably his own.

SUMMARY:Jill Sobule presents: Songs from F*ck 7th Grade & more
DESCRIPTION:It is with a heavy heart that we share that our dear friend Jill Sobule tragically passed on May 1. \n\nJill was so excited to come play for her fans. We know Jill’s energy and positivity will be missed and we appreciate your support of her memory and the talent and gift she has left us all.  \n\nTickets will be refunded at point of purchase.\nJill Sobule’s work is at once deeply personal and socially conscious\, seriously funny and derisively tragic. Her hits include “I Kissed A Girl”—the first openly gay-themed song ever to crack the Billboard Top 20—and the alt-rock anthem “Supermodel” featured in the film Clueless.  \nJill’s latest project is her New York Times Critics pick\, Drama Desk nominated autobiographical musical F*ck 7th Grade which premiered at the Wild Project in 2022. DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nFifteen seconds into his upcoming album Good to Be Here (out April 25)\, Phillip-Michael Scales sings\, “Toes pointed toward the road / Hard times picking at my bones\,” before launching into the anthemic chorus: “I couldn’t walk away if I tried / I’m gonna light up the sky.” The song sets a determined tone for the album\, reflecting Scales’ journey as an artist. \nIn Chicago\, Scales honed his craft\, playing 308 gigs in 2018 and crediting the city with teaching him how to hustle. This drive carried him to Nashville\, where he gained traction on the radio station; Lightning 100\, released his debut album Sinner-Songwriter\, toured Europe\, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show\, and opened national tours for Keb’ Mo’ and Caravan Palace. Grammy-nominated producer Dan Knobler (Lake Street Dive\, Allison Russell\, and Bahamas) later joined forces with Scales to produce Good to Be Here. \nWithout a label or viral hit\, Scales has built his career through relentless effort—long drives behind tour buses\, self-management\, and learning the business firsthand. His music channels the grit of Stax-era soul\, cataloging the journey of building a dream brick by brick. Make no mistake there is an undercurrent of fun throughout whether he’s finding love in  “Can’t Get Enough” or getting his swagger back in “Be My Own Man.” As Scales puts it: “I wouldn’t say that I’ve ‘arrived\,’ but… it’s good to be here.”

SUMMARY:The RFD Boys
DESCRIPTION:This is a special afternoon performance. \nIt’s hard to believe\, because each show is fresh and new\, but the RFD Boys have been delighting Michigan audiences since 1969 with their fabulous musicianship and sly\, exquisitely timed between-song humor. They’re legends of Michigan bluegrass\, but they’re more than that too. With an appearance on the cover of Bluegrass Unlimited\, with songs recorded by the likes of the Country Gentlemen\, and with performances alongside bluegrass greats like Bill Monroe and Ralph Stanley\, the RFD Boys are a part of America’s bluegrass tradition. The RFD Boys are one of southeastern Michigan’s most durable musical ensembles\, and their shows capture a deep slice of musical Ann Arbor. Their 50th-anniversary appearance at the Folk Festival was a special moment and introduced many listeners to Dan Roehrig\, who joined the band on guitar\, mandolin\, and bass in mid-2018. Dan grew up listening to Doc Watson\, Clarence White\, and Tony Rice\, and you can hear it in both his singing and guitar playing. \nThere are no advance tickets sold for this afternoon’s show. SUMMARY:I'm With Her
DESCRIPTION:With the 2014 formation of I’m With Her\, singer/songwriters Sarah Jarosz\, Aoife O’Donovan\, and Sara Watkins introduced an essential new force into the world of folk music: a close-knit alliance of highly esteemed musicians\, each graced with a deep understanding of folk tradition and unbridled passion for expanding its possibilities. Since delivering their critically lauded debut See You Around and standalone singles like “Call My Name” (winner of the 2020 Grammy for Best American Roots Song)\, the trio have routinely taken time out from their individual careers to dream up songs together—eventually arriving at a new album exploring themes of ancestry\, lineage\, and the collective human experience. On their long-awaited sophomore LP Wild and Clear and Blue\, I’m With Her now bring their luminous harmonies to a soul-searching body of work about reaching into the past\, navigating a chaotic present\, and bravely moving forward into the unknown. \nIn a departure from the stripped-back intimacy of See You Around—a 2018 release that turned up on best-of-the-year lists from the likes of the New York Times—Wild and Clear and Blue centers on a far more elaborate sound informed by the trio’s intensified sense of musical kinship. All multi-Grammy-winners with deep roots in the folk scene\, Watkins\, Jarosz\, and O’Donovan first discovered their near-telepathic chemistry during an impromptu performance at the 2014 Telluride Bluegrass Festival\, then co-founded I’m With Her and began touring extensively and performing at acclaimed festivals across the globe. \nProduced by Josh Kaufman—a member of Bonny Light Horseman and multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/arranger/producer who’s worked with Bob Weir and The National—Wild and Clear and Blue ultimately adds a bold new urgency to their delicate entangling of lived-in narrative\, fable-like storytelling\, and nuanced reflection on cycles of life. \nI’m With Her has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 per ticket goes to supporting Conscious Alliance’s mission to end hunger nationwide and feed families in need. www.plus1.org \n

Each show\, intentional time will be taken to get to know each artist in the form of brief interviews and musical breaks to have them speak about their journey as musicians and performers with the hope that people in the audience are more connected to and inspired by those voices.

Raised in 12 different states\, he absorbed a variety of musical influences as a child\, flirting with both violin and trombone\, before abandoning Stravinsky for the guitar at age 11. After adding a love for the country-blues of Mississippi John Hurt to the music of John Phillip Sousa and Preston Epps\, Kottke joined the Navy underage\, to be underwater\, and eventually lost some hearing shooting at lightbulbs in the Atlantic while serving on the USS Halfbeak\, a diesel submarine.  \nKottke had previously entered college at the U of Missouri\, dropping out after a year to hitchhike across the country to South Carolina\, then to New London and into the Navy\, with his twelve string. “The trip was not something I enjoyed\,” he has said\, “I was broke and met too many interesting people.” Discharged in 1964\, he settled in the Twin Cities area and became a fixture at Minneapolis’ Scholar Coffeehouse\, which had been home to Bob Dylan and John Koerner. He issued his 1968 recording debut LP Twelve String Blues\, recorded on a Viking quarter-inch tape recorder\, for the Scholar’s tiny Oblivion label. (The label released one other LP by The Langston Hughes Memorial Eclectic Jazz Band.)  \nAfter sending tapes to guitarist John Fahey\, Kottke was signed to Fahey’s Takoma label\, releasing what has come to be called the Armadillo record. Fahey and his manager Denny Bruce soon secured a production deal for Kottke with Capitol Records.  \nKottke’s 1971 major-label debut\, “Mudlark\,” positioned him somewhat uneasily in the singer/songwriter vein\, despite his own wishes to remain an instrumental performer. Still\, despite arguments with label heads as well as with Bruce\, Kottke flourished during his tenure on Capitol\, as records like 1972’s “Greenhouse” and 1973’s live “My Feet Are Smiling” and “Ice Water” found him branching out with guest musicians and honing his guitar technique.  \nHis collaboration with Phish bassist Mike Gordon\, “Clone\,” caught audiences’ attention in 2002. Kottke and Gordon followed with a recording in the Bahamas called “Sixty Six Steps\,” produced by Leo’s old friend and Prince producer David Z.  \nKottke has been awarded two Grammy nominations; a Doctorate in Music Performance by the Peck School of Music at the U of Wisconsin\, Milwaukee; and a Certificate of Significant Achievement in Not Playing the Trombone from the U of Texas at Brownsville with Texas Southmost College.

SUMMARY:Fantastic Cat
DESCRIPTION:The elevator at The Ark is out of service while technicians make repairs. Attendees for this show will need to be able to walk up and down the stairs to the second floor of The Ark where the show takes place. \nTicket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nFantastic Cat almost died. Each member also individually (but at separate times) faced devastating heartbreak\, went to jail\, got sober\, almost quit music entirely\, reconnected with a long-estranged family member\, started making music again\, hit rock bottom\, had a chance encounter with a mysterious stranger who changed their perspective on life\, almost quit music entirely a second time\, reconciled their progressive\, liberal ways with their strict\, conservative upbringing\, and embraced the raw power of their sexuality. It was quite a summer \nAnd sure\, you may be reading this right now saying\, “Wow\, that kind of sounds like the band just basically jammed every album bio cliché they could think of into a single paragraph without anything to back it up in a pathetically transparent attempt to generate press coverage.” But that kind of cynical thinking is exactly why GQ owns Pitchfork now (or whatever the hell happened there). Anyway\, it’s all real\, and if it makes for the kind of inspirational headline that editors and advertisers alike both find highly clickable\, then so be it. \nYou see\, two years ago\, Fantastic Cat was nothing more than a little-known rock band with a cult following (their fans were primarily members of Heaven’s Gate). That all changed with the release of their award-eligible debut\, The Very Best Of Fantastic Cat\, which garnered the kind of press you simply can’t make up. USA Today proclaimed\, “We don’t have a music writer anymore\,” while NPR received multiple copies of the album in the mail\, and The New York Times’ Jon Pareles declared\, “I’m currently out of the office and will respond when I return.” \nIndividually\, each member of Fantastic Cat boasts their own impressive resume along with a litany of critical acclaim. Paste declared Don DiLego’s latest album a “stunner.” NPR said Anthony D’Amato “sings and writes in the tradition of Bruce Springsteen or Josh Ritter.” Rolling Stone called Brian Dunne’s new record “the sleeper album of the year” and praised Mike Montali’s band\, Hollis Brown\, as “the soundtrack for a late-night drive through the American heartland.” Collectively\, though\, the four transcend their respective roots\, emerging as velvet-clad rock and roll cooperative far greater than the sum of its parts.  \nToday\, Fantastic Cat is back and older than ever\, taking America by storm with their newest album\, Now That’s What I Call Fantastic Cat.

His album Streets Of New York was hailed as “a platter for the ages” by Uncut. Rolling Stone listed The Innocent Ones as one of the “Top Ten Best Under-The-Radar Albums of 2011” and BBC Radio called it “THE rock ‘n’ roll album of the year.” His single from that album\, “One Guitar\,” was the “Top Pick of the Week” in USA Today. \nBono\, Bruce Springsteen\, Pete Townshend\, Lou Reed\, Lucinda Williams\, Jim Jarmusch\, and Little Steven are among those who have sung his praises.
