DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \n“It’s a highway\, filled with deep\, exotic colors and beautiful delicate things as well as the perils that come from moving so fast\,” says Dar Williams\, describing modern life. On her 13th album\, Hummingbird Highway\, out September 12 on Righteous Babe Records\, Williams celebrates the colors she glimpses from her vantage as a touring musician. “I was a kid from the suburbs who listened when her hippie teachers said to get out in the world\,” Williams muses. Hummingbird Highway is the latest chapter in a richly unfolding story. Drawing on her experience as a playwright\, Williams populates her latest album with nuanced characters that come alive in the space of a few minutes.

SUMMARY:Ladysmith Black Mambazo
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nLet us tell you a story. An impossible to believe\, yet\, true story. Once upon a time there was a teenage boy working on his family farm in apartheid South Africa. The year was 1960. This boy loved to sing\, in fact he loved to sing so much that he allowed himself an impossible dream. In his dream he would create a group of singers\, from his family members\, to sing traditional South African songs. His group would perform all over South Africa and they would become the greatest music group his country would ever know. How could such a dream come to a young farm boy in a country rife with hardship\, violence and trouble? Well\, Joseph Shabalala was this young farm boy and his dream would become Ladysmith Black Mambazo.  \nThe year 2025 marks the 65th anniversary of Joseph Shabalala forming Ladysmith Black Mambazo. His group would not only conquer all of South Africa\, but would become a worldwide phenomenon\, winning more GRAMMY Awards (Five)\, and receiving more GRAMMY Award nominations (Nineteen)\, than any World Music group in the history of recorded music.  \nDuring the dark years of South African Apartheid\, Ladysmith Black Mambazo followed a path of peaceful protest through songs of hope and love. When Nelson Mandela was released from prison\, in 1990\, he said that Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s music was a powerful message of peace that he listened to while in jail. When Mandela was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize\, in 1993\, he asked the group to join him at the ceremony. It was Mandela who called Ladysmith Black Mambazo “South Africa’s Cultural Ambassadors to the World.”  \nThe group sings a traditional music style called isicathamiya (Is-Cot-A-Mee-Ya)\, which developed in the mines of South Africa. It was there that black workers were taken to work far away from their homes and families. Poorly housed and paid\, the mine workers would entertain themselves\, after a six-day work week\, by singing songs into the wee hours on Saturday night and Sunday. When the miners returned to their homes\, this musical tradition returned with them.  \nIn the mid-1980s\, American singer/songwriter Paul Simon famously visited South Africa and incorporated the group’s rich harmonies into his renowned Graceland album – a landmark recording considered seminal in introducing World Music to mainstream audiences. This brought the group to the attention of music lovers all over the world\, the beginning of a global musical career that shows no sign of ending.  \nAfter leading his group for over fifty years and approaching his seventy-fifth birthday\, Joseph Shabalala retired in 2014\, handing the leadership to his three sons\, Thulani\, Sibongiseni and Thamsanqa Shabalala. Having joined their father’s group in 1993\, their many years of training had prepared them in ways no others could be trained. Now\, carrying their father’s dream into the future\, the Shabalala Family continues the group’s success for the world to hear.  \nLadysmith Black Mambazo is Thulani Shabalala\, Sibongiseni Shabalala\, Thamsanqa Shabalala\, Msizi Shabalala\, Albert Mazibuko\, Abednego Mazibuko\, Mfanafuthi Dlamini\, Pius Shezi and Sabelo Mthembu.

DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nBritish guitar legend Albert Lee\, regarded by many as one of the world’s finest guitar players\, with a career spanning more than 50 years\, needs no introduction for country\, blues and rock fans. Widely hailed for his fingerstyle and hybrid picking technique\, Albert Lee helped to redefine country guitar for a whole generation of players with his song “Country Boy.” Albert’s many career highlights include two Grammy wins\, five years in the Eric Clapton band (at Clapton’s request Albert played the Crossroads Festival with Eric at Madison Square Garden) and stints with the Rolling Stones’ Bill Wyman\, The Crickets\, the Everly Brothers\, Joe Cocker\, Emmylou Harris\, Rodney Crowell and many more. Take it from Emmylou\, who says\, “When Saint Peter asks me to chronicle my time down here on earth\, I’ll be able to say—with pride if that’s allowed—that for a while I played rhythm guitar in a band with Albert Lee.”  \nRecorded at the legendary Konk Studios in London in March 2023\, Albert’s latest album Lay It Down is a love letter to some of his favourite artists and biggest inspirations. From Mark Knopfler’s blistering Setting Me Up to Jimmy Webb’s soaring piano ballad Too Young To Die\, to The Everly Brothers’ storming hit The Price Of Love\, Lay It Down sees Albert’s triumphant return to the studio\, recording live\, as one of the greatest guitarists ever.

SUMMARY:An Evening With Alejandro Escovedo
DESCRIPTION:POSTPONED! \nDue to illness\, Alejandro Escovedo has had to postpone this leg of his tour. We are working on rescheduling this show to another date. Tickets will be valid for the new date. \nAlejandro Escovedo’s New Album ECHO DANCING is an Adventure in Life. No one has really ever been able to define themselves and their music like singer-songwriter Alejandro Escovedo does. His life in music of all kinds sometimes feels like a swirl through the sky\, where his songs point out all the majesty and mystery of how he sees the world. The sounds he makes take him places that he might not even predict\, but once there\, greatness always follows. \nEcho Dancing is an experiment in how to use the past to shape the future. By recording completely new and repurposed versions of songs from his past\, Escovedo actually gets a chance to rewrite his own history. It’s also an idea that pushes growth into the present\, and asks an artist to see themselves anew.  \n“I always feel that a well-written song can withstand a lot of abuse\,” Escovedo says. It is an area of creativity that the man has always honored. “Turning a past song inside out leads to discovery of new ideas you might not have understood about the song\,” he says. “Even lyrical refurbishing has proven helpful and effective. It’s like interpreting your own work anew. The songs never seem to be complete. They are always evolving.” \nEcho Dancing makes sure Alejandro Escovedo’s evolving circle remains unbroken.

DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nShawn Colvin stopped the industry in its tracks with her arresting 1989 debut\, Steady On. The following spring\, Colvin took home the GRAMMY Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album\, establishing herself as a mainstay in the singer-songwriter genre. In the ensuing 30 years\, Colvin has won three GRAMMY Awards\, released thirteen superlative albums\, written a critically acclaimed memoir\, maintained a non-stop national and international touring schedule\, appeared on countless television and radio programs\, had her songs featured in major motion pictures and created a remarkable canon of work. \nColvin was recently honored with an induction into the 2019 Austin City Limits Hall of Fame\, alongside legendary artists Lyle Lovett and Buddy Guy. In a moving induction speech\, Jackson Browne praised her as “ineffable” — ‘that which is impossible to express in words’ — and extolled\, “Not many writers are able to do what Shawn does. It’s a very special way of relating what really matters. It takes an original to get our attention. Shawn is utterly original in her singing\, and original in what she speaks about in her songs.” \nOver the course of three decades\, Shawn Colvin has established herself as a captivating performer and a revered storyteller\, well-deserving of the commendation of her peers and the devoted audiences who have been inspired by her artistry. And as she enters her third decade as a songwriter and performer\, she continues to reaffirm her status as a vital voice in music. \nPlease note early start time of 7:30!

SUMMARY:Judy Collins
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nJudy Collins has long inspired audiences with sublime vocals\, boldly vulnerable songwriting\, personal life triumphs\, and a firm commitment to social activism. In the 1960s\, she evoked both the idealism and steely determination of a generation united against social and environmental injustices. Five decades later\, her luminescent presence shines brightly as new generations bask in the glow of her iconic 55-album body of work\, and heed inspiration from her spiritual discipline to thrive in the music industry for half a century. \nThe award-winning singer-songwriter is esteemed for her imaginative interpretations of traditional and contemporary folk standards and her own poetically poignant original compositions. Her stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” from her landmark 1967 album\, Wildflowers\, has been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Recently\, contemporary and classic artists such as Rufus Wainwright\, Shawn Colvin\, Dolly Parton\, Joan Baez\, and Leonard Cohen honored her legacy with the album Born to the Breed: A Tribute to Judy Collins. \nThe cultural treasure’s 55th album\, Spellbound\, was released in February 2022\, finds Judy enjoying an artistic renaissance. The 13 song album is a special entry in her oeuvre. It marks the first time ever she wrote all the songs on one of her albums. It features 12 new recently-written modern folk songs\, and a bonus track of her evergreen\, “The Blizzard.” Spellbound is an introspective and impressionistic album. It unfolds as if Judy curated a museum exhibit of her life\, and welcomed us into a retrospective of her most formative moments\, some big and public\, and some intensely personal and intimate.  Spellbound was nominated in the Best Folk Album category at the 65th Recording Academy Grammy Awards in 2023.

DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nAmelia Day is a musical jack-of-all-trades. Standing at the intersection of folk\, rock\, and pop\, Day blends heartfelt storytelling\, raw delivery\, and unforgettable melodies into music that feels both fresh and familiar — like rediscovering an old favorite. A self-described writer before anything else\, her perceptive lyricism extends far beyond her 23 years\, with lines reminiscent of songwriting greats like Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon. As the Spokesman-Review notes\, Day has a signature style that features “wordplay\, double-meanings and rhythmic variations\,” with themes ranging from journeying into adulthood to climate change. Many of Day’s songs are also shaped by her intimate relationships\, where her queerness and candor take center stage.  \nFans often leave Day’s shows on a high\, blown away by her powerhouse vocals (drawing comparisons to Brandi Carlile\, Norah Jones\, Alanis Morissette\, and others)\, and charmed by the joy she exudes while onstage. \nTonight’s show is free for Ark Members at the Solo ($50) level and above!

SUMMARY:The RFD Boys
DESCRIPTION:It’s hard to believe\, because each show is fresh and new\, but the RFD Boys have been delighting Michigan audiences since 1969 with their fabulous musicianship and sly\, exquisitely timed between-song humor. They’re legends of Michigan bluegrass\, but they’re more than that too. With an appearance on the cover of Bluegrass Unlimited\, with songs recorded by the likes of the Country Gentlemen\, and with performances alongside bluegrass greats like Bill Monroe and Ralph Stanley\, the RFD Boys are a part of America’s bluegrass tradition. The RFD Boys are one of southeastern Michigan’s most durable musical ensembles\, and their shows capture a deep slice of musical Ann Arbor. Their 50th-anniversary appearance at the Folk Festival was a special moment and introduced many listeners to Dan Roehrig\, who joined the band on guitar\, mandolin\, and bass in mid-2018. Dan grew up listening to Doc Watson\, Clarence White\, and Tony Rice\, and you can hear it in both his singing and guitar playing. \nTickets available at the door. There are no advance tickets for this show.

SUMMARY:The Wood Brothers
DESCRIPTION:Dubbed “masters of soulful folk” by Paste\, The Wood Brothers formed after brothers Chris and Oliver Wood pursued separate musical careers for 15 years. Chris already had legions of devoted fans for his incomparable work as one-third of Medeski Martin & Wood\, while Oliver’s band King Johnson built a loyal following in the South. With drummer Jano Rix added as a permanent third member\, The Wood Brothers have evolved into one of roots music’s most revered acts\, playing sold out shows across North America\, garnering a Grammy Award nomination and releasing nine studio albums\, including their new release\, Puff of Smoke.

They’ve been writing and touring their own autobiographical folk/pop music for over a decade\, but their viral 2021 anthem “Plowshare Prayer” secured them a permanent place in hearts and households across the world\, as well as a peculiar career as a veracious songsmith with an unshakeable pastoral presence. DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone. This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nGrant Flick is a multi-instrumentalist\, composer\, educator\, and collaborative artist currently based in Ann Arbor\, Michigan. While his main instrument is violin he typically inhabits spaces where it is not uncommon to find him playing nyckelharpa\, tenor guitar\, mandolin\, or just about any other fifth-tuned stringed instrument. He lives fluidally between idioms/genres with a focus on original instrumental music primarily influenced by American improvisational idioms (bluegrass\, jazz\, new acoustic music\, etc.)\, the music of Django Reinhardt & Stephane Grappelli\, and chamber music both new and old. His most recent album “The Great Door” showcases his writing style in a quartet featuring entirely original material. \nGrant believes that instrumental music is a medium of thought that has the power to express ideas that words cannot define. He loves to collaborate with others in this artform. You can hear him play with projects such as his duo with outstanding bassist Jacob Warren creatively titled “Warren & Flick\,” his unique original quartet “Westbound Situation\,” or transatlantic inspired fiddling duos with Hannah O’Brien. The work of these projects is documented on albums such as “Cormorant” (Warren & Flick)\, “Accord” (Westbound Situation)\, and “Unmatched Pair” (Hannah O’Brien & Grant Flick).  \nThis performance will be a celebration of Grant’s latest release “The Great Door”.

SUMMARY:Emily Scott Robinson
DESCRIPTION:On her third album with Oh Boy Records\, and her fifth since beginning her career a decade ago\, Emily Scott Robinson once again unveils her mastery as a performer and storyteller. With her 2026 release Appalachia — recorded at Dreamland Recording Studios with Grammy-nominated producer Josh Kaufman — Robinson opens herself up to experimentation and sings in her crystal-clear voice about resilience\, love\, grief and hope. \nRobinson’s talent is no surprise to the music industry — she’s now a veteran touring artist\, both at home and abroad. Her records Traveling Mercies (2019) and American Siren (2021) each landed high on Rolling Stone’s “Best Country and Americana Albums” and Stereogum’s “10 Best Country Albums” year-end lists. She’s been lauded by the Washington Post\, Billboard\, American Songwriter and No Depression\, and earned the 19th spot on NPR’s “100 Best Songs of 2021” with her song “Let ‘Em Burn.” \nIt was her 2020 release “The Time for Flowers\,” an anthem of hope recorded at home in the midst of the global pandemic\, that caught the attention of Oh Boy Records\, the independent label founded by John Prine in 1981. Robinson jumped at the opportunity to join the free-spirited and beloved record label carrying on her hero’s legacy. \nRobinson believes the songs on Appalachia are the best she’s ever written — she sings about her grandmother slipping into dementia\, a cash-only saloon full of characters\, and gratitude for life\, despite its hardships. The album features a duet with Grammy winner John Paul White that celebrates the kind of  love that comes with scars and age\, and a hymn for anyone who’s ever failed or fallen short. \n“There’s this thing I do with every record I make\,” she says. “I knit a prayer into it\, and I ask for all these songs to find their way to everyone who needs them. I ask these songs to be of service\, to help people find and experience joy.” \nThe Ark’s Artist Spotlight Series is made possible with support from Ford Philanthropy. It is presented live\, and also livestreamed on The Ark’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. \nTonight’s show is FREE (nonperishables accepted for Food Gatherers).

DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nThere was no master plan. No label strategy. Just a spontaneous jam at Nashville’s Station Inn between a few friends—seasoned players\, all women\, making a little noise. But something clicked. The room lit up\, the crowd roared\, and Sister Sadie was born. \nWhat started as an accidental band became a force. GRAMMY-nominated. IBMA-decorated. Opry-validated. But for all the accolades\, they were often reduced to one line: an all-female bluegrass band. True—but never the point. Sister Sadie has always been about the music. The fire. The truth. \nTheir new album\, All Will Be Well\, is that truth—loud\, fearless\, and free. You’ll hear echoes of bluegrass\, but what rises is something bigger: country with claws\, Americana with muscle\, gospel grit and raw storytelling. \nFrom the haunting “Prodigal Daughter” to the swagger of “Do What You Want” and the aching beauty of “If I Don’t Have You\,” these six women are not performing roles—they’re telling you who they are. \nThis is Sister Sadie\, evolved: bold\, bonded\, and braver than ever. They’re not asking for space. They’re taking it. \nAnd they’re just getting started.

Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nSolas is lighting up stages across the globe as they celebrate three decades of pushing boundaries and honoring traditions in Irish music. Hailed by The Wall Street Journal as “an Irish traditional band bearing all the marks of greatness\,” Solas continues to captivate audiences with their spellbinding musicianship and genre-defying creativity. \nFormed in New York City in 1995\, Solas quickly rose to prominence as a revolutionary force in Irish-American music. Now\, with twelve critically acclaimed albums and a reputation for dynamic\, emotionally charged live performances\, Solas has set new standards for musicianship\, repertoire\, and intensity. \nWhile Solas has seen various lineup changes over the years\, the spirit of innovation and reverence for Irish tradition has remained constant. Through every chapter\, founding members Séamus Egan and Winifred Horan have steered the band with passion and vision. In 2025\, they are joined by original accordionist John Williams and welcome two celebrated contemporary artists to the stage: renowned Irish singer and flutist Nuala Kennedy and guitarist Alan Murray. \nThis powerhouse ensemble brings the magic of Solas to life in a performance that promises to be both a homecoming and a new beginning. Audiences can expect an unforgettable musical journey filled with driving rhythms\, soaring melodies\, and heartfelt vocals that pay tribute to Irish roots while embracing new creative frontiers. \nSolas’ music has always existed at the intersection of tradition and transformation. Whether interpreting a centuries-old ballad or unveiling an original composition\, the band approaches each piece with curiosity\, skill\, and deep emotional resonance. Their ability to evolve without losing their essence has made them a cornerstone of the Celtic music scene and an inspiration to countless artists.

Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nReared in Georgia and now settled in North Carolina\, Jake Xerxes Fussell has established himself as a devoted listener and contemplative interpreter of a vast array of so-called folk songs\, lovingly sourced from a personal store of favorites. On his latest album\, When I’m Called—his first LP for Fat Possum\, and his first as a parent—Fussell returns to a well of music that holds lifelong sentimental meaning\, loosely contemplating the passage of time and the procession of life’s unexpected offerings. \nThe album was produced by James Elkington and mixed by Tucker Martine. In addition to Elkington\, it features the playing of Ben Whiteley (The Weather Station)\, Joe Westerlund (Bon Iver\, Califone)\, and others. Blake Mills contributes guitars on several tracks. Joan Shelley and Robin Holcomb provide backing vocals. \n“…Fussell is the rare contemporary to approach folk in its pure form\, shunning self-penned compositions about bummer relationships to concentrate on material handed down from bygone\, hardened times.” – The New Yorker \n“(Fussell) is one of the great magpies of American song\, collecting forgotten\, tarnished gems with a folklorist’s zeal… his renditions aren’t so much cover versions as composites…” – The Guardian

DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nRJ Cowdery (Ohio)\, Katie Dahl (Wisconsin)\, and Hope Dunbar (New Jersey) may be from three different states\, but they all share a knack for razor-sharp lyrics\, wicked humor\, compelling vocals\, and unflinching truth-telling. All alumni of the prestigious Kerrville New Folk competition\, Cowdery\, Dahl\, and Dunbar each tour the country individually\, but are teaming up for this powerhouse triple bill. Don’t miss this chance to see three of the country’s most respected songwriters\, swapping songs with one another in an in-the-round format. \nRJ Cowdery\nRj Cowdery writes the kind of songs that sneak up on you—quiet\, honest\, and armed with just enough wit to keep you on your toes. A late bloomer in the music world (she didn’t dive in until most people are taking up pickleball)\, Rj has been making up for lost time with award-winning albums like In This Light\, produced by Billy Crockett and What If This Is All There Is\, produced by Amy Speace. Hailing from southeastern Ohio\, with Appalachian roots\, she balances heart-tugging ballads with a sly grin and the occasional perfectly timed zinger. Along the way\, she’s earned top honors at Mountain Stage NewSong\, Kerrville New Folk\, Sisters Folk Festival\, to name a few.  Fellow musicians call her “the real deal\,” audiences call her music “a warm blanket\,” and she just calls it “medicine.” \nKatie Dahl:\nClear-eyed and tough-minded\, songwriter/playwright Katie Dahl is known for her smart songs\, wry wit\, and wise spirit. A small-town celebrity on the Wisconsin peninsula where her family has lived for 175 years\, Katie is also an internationally touring\, radio-charting artist who “delivers razor-sharp lyrics with a hearty\, soulful voice” (American Songwriter). In live shows that are both courageously honest and devilishly funny\, Katie dives deep into questions of land and love\, family and body image\, grief and joy. “In unsettled times\,” says Peter Mulvey\, “Katie Dahl brings us a grounded spirit.” \nHope Dunbar:\nHope Dunbar is a singer-songwriter known for her blend of Americana and country-folk sounds. Hailing from Utica\, Nebraska\, she has been a pioneer of what she calls “New American Prairie style\,” crafting semi-autobiographical songs that transform everyday life into art. Her work has garnered recognition\, including being a three-time finalist at the Kerrville New Folk Song Contest. After residing in a small town in Nebraska\, Dunbar relocated to New Jersey\, bringing her unique “Big Sky sound” to the East Coast. She has opened for national artists and has been a part of shows with Asbury Park musicians. She also co-hosts a weekly podcast\, “Prompt Queens\,” where she and her sister-in-law write a new song each week based on a specific prompt. Dunbar’s latest album\, “Happily Ever Elsewhere\,” was released on August 1\, 2025. The album\, which was supported by a Kickstarter campaign\, features collaborations with artists such as Darrell Scott\, Eliza Gilkyson\, and Cory Branan.

The show will go on\, and the length and spirit will not change. \nPresenting the 2026 Reunion Tour of “On A Winter’s Night” from veteran singer-songwriters that remain among the brightest stars of the singer-songwriter movement for the past three decades. In 1994 Christine Lavin gathered them together\, along with folk and Americana artists to showcase music of the Winter Season on the now-classic On A Winter’s Night CD\, followed by several years of touring collaborations. These artists have released dozens of recordings and toured steadily through the decades\, with fond memories of their touring days together. The winter season is again celebrated by these unique and popular performers\, back together by popular demand. \nCLIFF EBERHARDT One of the most original songsmiths currently on tour\, Eberhardt is a highly intelligent\, articulate artist whose penetrating and profound lyrics are sometimes overshadowed by his extraordinary guitar playing. Upon close listening\, the Philadelphia-born singer’s gift for the English language is abundantly clear. The words that tumble from his mouth are framed by a raspy yet deeply elegant voice.  \nJOHN GORKA Hailed by Rolling Stone as “the leading singer-songwriter of the New Folk movement\,” John Gorka is perhaps the quintessential singer-songwriter of the 90’s folk scene. Originally from New Jersey\, John served an apprenticeship at Godfrey Daniels coffeehouse in Bethlehem\, PA\, then the Greenwich Village Fast Folk scene. Winning the prestigious New Folk award at the Kerrville Folk Festival\, in 1984\, he was then signed to Red House Records on which he released his landmark first of 17 recordings\, I Know.  \nLUCY KAPLANSKY Blending country\, folk and pop styles\, Lucy has the unique ability to make every song sound fresh\, whether singing her own sweet originals\, covering country classics by June Carter Cash and Gram Parsons\, or singing pop favorites by Lennon/McCartney and Nick Lowe. A Billboard-charting singer and one of the top-selling artists on Red House Records\, she has topped the folk and Americana radio charts and has been featured on shows throughout the world from NPR’s Weekend and Morning Editions to BBC Radio to CBS Sunday Morning.

DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nThe 21st Annual celebration of love and music features Annie & Rod Capps\, Shari Kane & Dave Steele\, and Whit & Al Hill. Three acclaimed musical duos who also happen to be partners in life share the stage\, swapping songs and stories. You can expect some collaborating both planned and spontaneous. Not just for lovebirds\, and not just love songs. Just a whole lotta great music. \nAnnie & Rod Capps \nPoignant and playful\, effortless and endearing\, Annie & Rod Capps’ sound meets at the intersection of Americana & Folk. Like many singer/songwriters whose instrumentation is primarily acoustic the word “folk” covers a broad sonic range of genres and influences – what comes out is a rootsy vibe\, touch of twang and soulful groove. \nWhit & Al Hill \nLongtime Ann Arbor singer/songwriters Whit and Al Hill now live in Nashville but cherish every trip back to the town they call home. Whit’s song topics include: traffic\, animals\, old cars\, family physicians\, chicken recipes\, metal detecting\, and love. Al is an award-winning blues keyboardist\, guitarist\, singer\, and producer who has toured the country and the world; his band the Love Butlers was a Michigan favorite. Whit and Al love nothing more than singing together and with old friends for the good people of Ann Arbor and the Detroit area. \nShari Kane & Dave Steele \nShari and Dave throw a four handed acoustic party – street swing\, stomp blues\, mountain twang – music from the holler and swamp. Blues and gospel shouting\, stellar fingerpicking\, deep slide\, banjo\, dobro\, mandolin\, and Appalachian harmony singing. Gary Davis meets Dock Boggs and Muddy Waters and they share a jug. Shari and Dave shows are steeped in folk and blues roots\, blended with Appalachian grind – serving up an intoxicating acoustic brew. Dave’s smoky vocals\, percussive rhythm and innovative lead\, and Shari’s crisp picking style\, rootsy leads\, and stinging slidework are a testament to sounds once heard on the streets of Harlem\, juke joints of Mississippi\, the Carolina hills or the jug bands of Memphis.
