SUMMARY:Dave & Kristi
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nOne time garage rock troubadour Dave Boutette\, and former Radio City Rockette Kristi Lynn Davis make what could be considered an unexpected musical pairing\, but they have certainly found a way to make it work. Since pairing Dave’s celebrated songwriting with Kristi’s natural gift for harmony\, the duo has delighted audiences at music festivals\, house concerts\, and listening rooms from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula to the Maryland shore. Their most recent release THE CHICKADEES reached #11 on the Folk DJ Chart in June of 2025. \nFor additional spark in the set list that night\, Dave & Kristi will be bringing along Jason Dennie on mandolin and Brad Phillips on fiddle. \nDave & Kristi’s songs mix many schools of American roots and popular music including folk\, blues\, swing\, and old time country. The lyrics testify to the power of true love\, rebirth\, Polka bands\, coffee\, and migrating fish.

SUMMARY:Chris Smither
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nBorn in Miami\, during World War II\, Chris Smither grew up in New Orleans where he first started playing music as a child. The son of a Tulane University professor\, he was taught the rudiments of instrumentation by his uncle on his mother’s ukulele. “Uncle Howard\,” Smither says\, “showed me that if you knew three chords\, you could play a lot of the songs you heard on the radio. And if you knew four chords\, you could pretty much rule the world.” With that bit of knowledge under his belt\, he was hooked. “I’d loved acoustic music – specifically the blues – ever since I first heard Lightnin’ Hopkins’ Blues In My Bottle album. I couldn’t believe the sound Hopkins got. At first I thought it was two guys playing guitar. My style\, to a degree\, came out of trying to imitate that sound I heard.”\n\nIn his early twenties\, Smither turned his back on his anthropology studies and headed to Boston at the urging of legendary folk singer Eric von Schmidt. It was the mid-’60s and acoustic music thrived in the streets and coffeehouses there. Smither forged lifelong friendships with many musicians\, including Bonnie Raitt who went on to record his songs\, “Love You Like A Man” and “I Feel the Same. (Their friendship has endured as their career paths intertwined over the years.) What quickly evolved from his New Orleans and Cambridge musical experiences is his enduring\, singular guitar sound – a beat-driven finger-picking\, strongly influenced by the playing of Mississippi John Hurt and Lightnin’ Hopkins\, layered over the ever-present backbeat of his rhythmic\, tapping feet (always mic’d in performance).

SUMMARY:Davy Knowles
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nWhether playing acoustic\, mandolin\, national steel\, or screaming electric guitar\, Davy Knowles has an unmistakable style.  Since bursting on to the scene with his band Back Door Slam’s critically acclaimed album ‘Roll Away’ in 2007 (“I heard the spirit of Jimi Hendrix” Patrick McDonald – Seattle Times)\,  Davy’s star has only risen. His sophomore release ‘Coming Up For Air’ was produced by the legendary Peter Frampton (“Davy already has a recognizable style. He’s definitely the gunslinger guitarist of the 21st century\,’’- Peter Frampton). \nKnowles has several top-5 Billboard Blues charting albums under his belt\, high profile TV appearances (Jimmy Kimmel Live and CBS Good Morning America among others)\, and has been praised with high accolades from heroes and press alike – but it’s not just the music industry who has taken note. Knowles was also the very first artist in history to perform live to the International Space Station directly from mission control in Houston TX\, and has had his music taken to the Space Station by two astronauts\, Nicole Stott and Ron Garan\, on their missions orbiting Earth.  \nNever one to be satisfied or to sit still\, Knowles has explored multiple genres and styles\, from the hard-hitting 70’s classic rock influenced album ‘Three Miles From Avalon’\, to the haunting acoustic delta blues of ‘1932’\, and the sweet\, soul-searching folk of 2023’s ‘If I Should Wander’.  \nWhether spending an evening onstage armed with just an acoustic guitar\, or wielding his well worn and trusty Telecaster while fronting his blues/rock trio – and at any point in between the two – Davy Knowles is a versatile and formidable songwriter and musician.

SUMMARY:Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nBlack Joe Lewis is the realest motherfucker there is. When Covid sidelined his touring this past year\, he started laying concrete to help support his baby mama and his kid. That’s fuckin’ real. When Joe and his band\, the Honeybears\, popped onto the national stage over a decade ago\, many critics embraced him but still\, there were some that maintained that they hadn’t paid their dues. Joe’s still here. Still going. Still cashing checks and snapping necks. The dues of hard work; the delirious heights of the industry as well as the disappointments and low hanging fruit. Through this all\, Joe’s only honed his mastery over gut bucket blues guitar and his true voice. It’s a vital and distinctly American voice that never anticipated the attention he wound up receiving\, never went looking for it either. It just started happening. The garage\, the blues\, the propulsive and synergistic live performances that inhabit the spaces of James Brown\, Lightnin’ Hopkins\, and the MC5…those things happened naturally from the very beginning and could only be accurately communicated in the live experience\, not a press release or a slick brand campaign. Sharon Jones\, Charles Bradley\, Cedric Burnside and Lightnin Malcolm\, The Dirtbombs\, Detroit Cobras\, the Strange Boys; these are some of the artists that Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears shared countless bills with; almost a roll call of the most influential soul and garage bands of the last twenty five years. Has the soul blues garage explosion from that era been commodified or worked into the overall template of pop rock? Sure. But the ground floor was a vital space for people that like guitars and grease and at this point Black Joe Lewis is one of the last standing that was there. Last of a dying breed. Or maybe a missing link. Does this make him a throwback? A throwback to a throwback? It’d be tempting and easy for Joe to go along with that but nah\, we don’t think so. We know that Joe Lewis is genuinely doing his thing and that he’d do it regardless of what’s coming down the pipe. A stone cold original and a veteran at that. If you like whistling in your music and some floppy hat\, quaky kneed dudes cloyingly singing at you\, then you might not “get it” but whatever…there are enough intrepid\, degenerate weirdos that do. Those are the folks Joe cares about. Not the glad handing set. Not the fair-weather friend set getting down with the flavor of the month. Like the title of his last album says\, “the difference between me and you” is Joe defining for himself that there’s the belabored wannabes and then there’s dudes that actually “HAVE the blues”…whatever the hell THAT is! Joe’s concrete pouring boss is gonna miss him.

SUMMARY:Mark Jewett & The Strategic Advisors
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nMark Jewett is an insightful Michigan native storyteller who writes songs that push the boundaries of Americana into an uncommon blend of folk\, rock\, blues\, and prog rock. In them\, listeners will hear and feel honesty\, gratitude\, and thoughtful introspection\, with doses of humor and drama to vary the pace. His songs betray the effort he makes to find just the right words\, taking cues from the likes of Randy Newman\, John Prine\, and Nick Lowe. \nMark assembled the band known as The Strategic Advisors to record his 2nd full length album\, “The Lucky One\,” released in 2021. The band is comprised of some of SE Michigan’s finest musicians\, including Billy Harrington (drums & vocals)\, Michael Harrington (pedal steel\, electric & acoustic guitars)\, Ken Pesick (bass)\, Amy Petty (vocals & guitar) and Dale Grisa (keyboards). The band is extremely versatile and sonically\, they make Mark’s tunes span the wide space between classic folk and epic soundscapes you might expect to hear from Pink Floyd. Somehow\, it all fits together to provide an attention grabbing extravaganza. \nDetroit-based indie-folk band Jackamo opens. Led by sisters Alison and Tessa Wiercioch (vocals) and Jimmy Showers (guitar)\, and known for their blood harmonies\, acoustic textures\, and lyric-driven storytelling\, their sound is intimate\, nostalgic\, and always evolving.

SUMMARY:Taj Mahal & The Phantom Blues Band
DESCRIPTION:Taj Mahal doesn’t wait for permission. If a sound intrigues him\, he sets out to make it. If origins mystify him\, he moves to trace them. If rules get in his way\, he unapologetically breaks them. To Taj\, convention means nothing\, but traditions are holy. He has pushed music and culture forward\, all while looking lovingly back. \n“I just want to be able to make the music that I’m hearing come to me — and that’s what I did\,” Taj says. The 82-year-old is home in Berkeley\, reflecting on six + decades of music making. “When I say\, ‘I did\,’ I’m not coming from the ego. The music comes from somewhere. You’re just the conduit it comes through. You’re there to receive the gift.” \nTaj is a towering musical figure — a legend who transcended the blues not by leaving them behind\, but by revealing their magnificent scope to the world. “The blues is bigger than most people think\,” he says. “You could hear Mozart play the blues. It might be more like a lament. It might be more melancholy. But I’m going to tell you: the blues is in there.” \nIf anyone knows where to find the blues\, it’s Taj. A brilliant artist with a musicologist’s mind\, he has pursued and elevated the roots of beloved sounds with boundless devotion and skill. Then\, as he traced origins to the American South\, the Caribbean\, Africa\, and elsewhere\, he created entirely new sounds\, over and over again. As a result\, he’s not only a god to rock-and-roll icons such as Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones\, but also a hero to ambitious artists toiling in obscurity who are determined to combine sounds that have heretofore been ostracized from one another. No one is as simultaneously traditional and avant-garde.

DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nBill apparently got off his butt and recorded a bunch of new songs. Given that Ann Arbor is his ancestral home\, and the very place he and some like-minded souls formed Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen\, Bill has promised not to wear you out with too much inscrutable new material. He has assured us that he’ll also bring some reminiscences with a good selection of songs from his checkered past. And as we’ve never been able to get him out of here without him launching into a few Dylan songs\, we’ll be on guard for that as well. What else? Oh yes\, he did say he had some home town Stories That Can Finally Be Told\, but offered no assurances that he will remember them. He also said\, tell ‘em I’m bringing my Texas band Rick Richards and Jack Saunders for the full Honky-Tonk Rock’n’Roll  experience\, and that I’m quite a bit jollier than that picture would indicate.  \nGrammy nominated guitarist\, singer and songwriter Bill Kirchen is one of the fortunate few who can step on any stage\, play those trademark licks which drove the seminal Commander Cody classic Hot Rod Lincoln into the Top Ten nationwide\, and elicit instant recognition. Named a “Titan of the Telecaster” by Guitar Player Magazine\, he celebrates a musical tradition that embraces rock ‘n’ roll\, blues and bluegrass\, Texas Western swing and California honkytonk. Nick Lowe describes Bill as “… a devastating culmination of the elegant and funky… a really sensational musician\, with enormous depth.” Justly famous for his indelible Telecaster sound\, Bill Kirchen has been everywhere over the span of a 50-plus-year career: he was a founding member of the legendary Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen; he released a dozen critically acclaimed solo albums; he toured internationally with Nick Lowe and has performed or recorded with Doug Sahm\, Gene Vincent\, Elvis Costello\, Dan Hicks\, Emmylou Harris\, Linda Ronstadt \,Bruce Hornsby and Link Wray.

SUMMARY:The Bros. Landreth: Tumbling Wild Tour 2026
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nThe Bros. Landreth are two-time JUNO Award winners from Winnipeg\, known for their blend of guitar-driven\, soulful\, blood harmony roots music. The band\, the core of which consists of brothers Dave and Joey Landreth\, has earned critical acclaim and a dedicated audience for their heartfelt songs\, inventive musicianship\, and powerful performances. From their early days attending their father’s gigs as babies (“Mom would tuck us into a bassinet and slide us under the bar tables\,” says Dave)\, the brothers have spent a lifetime touring rock clubs\, theatres\, and music festivals across North America\, the UK\, Europe\, and Australia\, including stand-out performances at Byron Bay Blues Festival in Australia and Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in Los Angeles. In 2023\, a banner year for the band\, Joey and Dave became Grammy-winning songwriters when Bonnie Raitt’s cover of their song\, Made Up Mind (from their first album\, Let it Lie)\, earned the Grammy for Americana Performance of the Year. The recognition was a fitting nod from one of their musical heroes\, as their own music draws inspiration from the well-worn records of their childhood — Bonnie Raitt’s blues\, Little Feat’s funky country-rock\, Ry Cooder’s eclectic instrumentals\, Lyle Lovett’s twangy traditionalism — culminating in a sound that salutes the past while planting its flag firmly in the present. \nDrawing on the energy of their recent live shows and a newfound sense of creative purpose\, The Bros. Landreth returned to the studio for their fourth full-length album\, Dog Ear. This record captures the spontaneous and collaborative spirit of their touring band\, which includes drummer Roman Clarke and producer Murray Pulver\, and marks a new\, more effortless approach to songwriting. The band describes the album as a deeply personal and emotionally resonant work\, exploring themes of family and the quest for stability amidst the itinerant life of a touring musician\, and says it’s “really about trying to figure out what it means to be a consistent force in the lives of the people you care about.” With songs like the title track written for their children\, the album captures a raw and focused energy in the studio\, featuring a handful of magical first takes and special collaborations with pop vocalist Begonia\, keyboardist Glenn Patscha\, and a powerful guest vocal performance from their longtime hero\, Bonnie Raitt\, who appears on two tracks (Knuckles\, Half Moon Eyes).
