SUMMARY:The Arcadian Wild
DESCRIPTION:The Arcadian Wild is a four-piece indie folk/pop group from Nashville\, TN. Led by songwriters Isaac Horn and Lincoln Mick and Bailey Warren on fiddle\, The Arcadian Wild confidently inhabits and explores an intersection of genre\, blending the traditional with the contemporary. Combining elements of progressive bluegrass\, folk\, and formal vocal music\, The Arcadian Wild offer up songs of invitation; calls to come and see\, to find refuge and rest\, to journey and wonder\, to laugh and cry\, to share joy and community and sing along. \nThe band’s 2023 album Welcome marks the start of a captivating new chapter for the genre-bending trio\, who returned to the studio with renewed purpose and insight after devoting the last few years to a series of critically acclaimed singles and EPs. Like much of the band’s catalog\, the album blurs the lines between chamber folk and progressive bluegrass\, drawing on everything from country and classical to pop and choral music with lush harmonies and dazzling fretwork\, but this time around there’s a rawness to the writing\, an embrace of candor and simplicity that cuts straight to the heart of things like never before. The result is perhaps the most arresting collection yet from a band known for its ability to stop listeners dead in their tracks\, an exquisitely beautiful celebration of community\, connection\, and the power of belonging that feels tailor-made for these challenging times.

SUMMARY:Leo Kottke
DESCRIPTION:The elevator at The Ark is out of service while technicians make repairs. Attendees for this show will need to be able to walk up and down the stairs to the second floor of The Ark where the show takes place. \nTicket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nAcoustic guitarist Leo Kottke was born in Athens\, Georgia\, but left town after a year and a half. Raised in 12 different states\, he absorbed a variety of musical influences as a child\, flirting with both violin and trombone\, before abandoning Stravinsky for the guitar at age 11. After adding a love for the country-blues of Mississippi John Hurt to the music of John Phillip Sousa and Preston Epps\, Kottke joined the Navy underage\, to be underwater\, and eventually lost some hearing shooting at lightbulbs in the Atlantic while serving on the USS Halfbeak\, a diesel submarine.  \nKottke had previously entered college at the U of Missouri\, dropping out after a year to hitchhike across the country to South Carolina\, then to New London and into the Navy\, with his twelve string. “The trip was not something I enjoyed\,” he has said\, “I was broke and met too many interesting people.” Discharged in 1964\, he settled in the Twin Cities area and became a fixture at Minneapolis’ Scholar Coffeehouse\, which had been home to Bob Dylan and John Koerner. He issued his 1968 recording debut LP Twelve String Blues\, recorded on a Viking quarter-inch tape recorder\, for the Scholar’s tiny Oblivion label. (The label released one other LP by The Langston Hughes Memorial Eclectic Jazz Band.)  \nAfter sending tapes to guitarist John Fahey\, Kottke was signed to Fahey’s Takoma label\, releasing what has come to be called the Armadillo record. Fahey and his manager Denny Bruce soon secured a production deal for Kottke with Capitol Records.  \nKottke’s 1971 major-label debut\, “Mudlark\,” positioned him somewhat uneasily in the singer/songwriter vein\, despite his own wishes to remain an instrumental performer. Still\, despite arguments with label heads as well as with Bruce\, Kottke flourished during his tenure on Capitol\, as records like 1972’s “Greenhouse” and 1973’s live “My Feet Are Smiling” and “Ice Water” found him branching out with guest musicians and honing his guitar technique.  \nHis collaboration with Phish bassist Mike Gordon\, “Clone\,” caught audiences’ attention in 2002. Kottke and Gordon followed with a recording in the Bahamas called “Sixty Six Steps\,” produced by Leo’s old friend and Prince producer David Z.  \nKottke has been awarded two Grammy nominations; a Doctorate in Music Performance by the Peck School of Music at the U of Wisconsin\, Milwaukee; and a Certificate of Significant Achievement in Not Playing the Trombone from the U of Texas at Brownsville with Texas Southmost College.

SUMMARY:Dave Alvin & Jimmie Dale Gilmore - Almost Acoustic Duo
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nWhen Grammy winner Dave Alvin and Grammy nominee Jimmie Dale Gilmore made the album Downey To Lubbock together in 2018\, they wrote the title track as a sort of mission statement. “I know someday this old highway’s gonna come to an end\,” Alvin sings near the song’s conclusion. Gilmore answers: “But I know when it does you’re going to be my friend.” \nSix years later\, they’re serving notice that the old highway hasn’t ended yet. “We’re still standing\, no matter what you might hear\,” they sing on “We’re Still Here\,” the final track to their latest album TexiCali\, which continues to bridge the distance between the two troubadours’ respective home bases of California (Alvin) and Texas (Gilmore). \nThe geographic theme reflects Alvin’s repeated journeys to record in Central Texas with Gilmore and the Austin-based backing band that has toured with the duo for the past few years. As Alvin puts it in the liner notes\, those road trips informed the music they made on TexiCali: \nFrom one part of the borderland to another\, through concrete swaths of traffic\, tract homes and shopping malls\, across vast rocky deserts of Joshua trees\, saguaros and ocotillo\, speeding by forgotten battlefields\, remote mining towns\, corrido barrooms\, cinder block churches and abandoned houses filled with abandoned dreams\, past Mission San Xavier del Bac\, Cochise’s Stronghold and Apache Pass\, into the shimmering lights of El Paso/Juarez before the seemingly eternal emptiness of West Texas\, traveling those 1\,400 miles somewhere between Nothingness and Everything.

SUMMARY:Asleep at the Wheel
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nFor over fifty years\, Asleep at the Wheel’s Ray Benson has been traversing the globe as an ambassador of Western swing music and introducing its irresistible sound to generation after generation. More than 100 musicians have passed through the Wheel\, but Benson remains the front man and the keeper of the vision\, in the process racking up more than 30 albums\, ten Grammy awards and literally millions of miles on the road. \n“I’m the reason it’s still together\, but the reason it’s popular is because we’ve had the greatest singers and players\,” Benson explains. “When someone joins the band\, I say\, ‘Learn everything that’s ever been done\, then put your own stamp on it.’ I love to hear how they interpret what we do. I’m just a singer and a songwriter\, and a pretty good guitar player\, but my best talent is convincing people to jump on board and play this music.” \nAsleep at the Wheel has collaborated on records with genre-spanning friends\, including Willie Nelson on 2009’s Grammy Nominated Willie and the Wheel and other critically acclaimed artists\, including Brad Paisley\, Jamey Johnson\, Merle Haggard\, George Strait\, the Avett Brothers\, Amos Lee\, Old Crow Medicine Show and Lyle Lovett on Still the King\, their 2015 critically acclaimed and Grammy winning tribute to Bob Wills. On their latest release\, Half A Hundred Years\, Asleep At The Wheel continued their contributions to the American music landscape when three original members of Asleep at the Wheel—Chris O’Connell\, Leroy Preston\, and Lucky Oceans—returned after 40 years to lend their voices and musicianship to a number of tracks on the album along with Emmylou Harris\, Lee Ann Womack\, George Strait\, Lyle Lovett and Willie Nelson. \nAsleep at the Wheel represents an important cornerstone of American roots music\, even though some of its members and audiences represent a new generation. That far-reaching appeal remains a testament to Benson’s initial vision. \n“It took me 60 years\, but I’m doing what I’m meant to do—singing and playing and writing better than I ever have. A bandleader is just someone who gathers people around them to play the best music they can play. I just try and make the best decisions possible and kick some ass every night onstage.”

SUMMARY:John Craigie
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nJohn Craigie has mastered the art of creating live shows that feel more like intimate conversations than performances. Infusing humor\, wit\, and poignant storytelling\, his shows are a space where audience members feel like old friends. Whether he’s headlining solo or sharing the stage with longtime collaborators\, Craigie’s ability to make his crowd laugh\, reflect\, and connect is second to none. As he prepares to release Greatest Hits… Just Kidding… Live – No Hits\, his latest live album captures the warmth and spontaneity of these memorable nights. \nAt this point\, there have been quite a few good shows in the rearview…  \nAs a tried-and-true performer\, he has regularly sold out solo tours in addition to hitting the road with the likes of Langhorne Slim\, Brett Dennen\, Mason Jennings\, Bella White and Jack Johnson. He has picked up fans with sets at Newport Folk Festival\, Pickathon\, Edmonton Folk Festival\, and High Sierra Music Festival. Including numerous European tours and his first Australian tour in spring of 2024 Moreover\, his annual river trip on the Tuolumne River—just outside of Yosemite in California—has remained a hit with his audience\, hosting one sellout after another. Giving back as much as possible\, he notably launched the #KeepItWarm Tour during the holidays. By donating $1 from every ticket sale\, this headline run has raised money for regional non-profits with the goal of fighting food insecurity. An avowed Beatles acolyte\, he has performed acoustic renditions of the albums Abbey Road and Let It Be live in front of packed crowds and partnered with Record Store Day for limited-edition vinyl releases of those concerts.  \nSimultaneously\, his catalog has continued to reel in tens of millions of streams fueled by favorites such as “I Am California\,” “Highway Blood\,” “Don’t Ask\,” and “Microdose.” Maintaining a prolific pace\, 2024’s Pagan Church saw him join forces with TK & The Holy Know-Nothings. Among many highlights\, it logged six weeks at #1 on the Americana Radio Albums Chart. Inciting critical applause\, Pop Matters raved\, “All of Craigie’s songs are made of something truly ineffable\,” and American Highways assured\, “Along with excellent musicianship across the album\, there are genuinely pretty moments on ‘Pagan Church.’” Meanwhile\, he joined forces with Langhorne Slim for a duet song “Out On The Road.”  \nTo him\, the live albums seek to achieve a sound where the listener will feel like they’re in the venue\, sitting and experiencing the show with the rest of the crowd.

SUMMARY:Vienna Teng
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nSongwriter Vienna Teng re-emerges this fall with her mashup song pair We’ve Got You – her first new music in over a decade – but her fans have been here the whole time. They’ve packed concert venues even in years between releases\, crowdfunded an ambitious music video in hours\, and joined by the hundreds when she launched her “music x climate action” Patreon in 2022. \nThat kind of devotion has poured forth since 2002’s Waking Hour\, which landed her on NPR’s Weekend Edition\, The Late Show with David Letterman\, and the top of Amazon’s music charts. Across four more studio albums that followed – the chamber folk of Warm Strangers\, the jazz-inflected Dreaming Through the Noise\, the indie epic Inland Territory\, the bright electro-pop in Aims – Vienna has paid homage to her genre-bending heroes like Paul Simon and Tori Amos\, while carving a path all her own. Together with her captivating live performances and thoughtful online presence\, her work has built a loyal following across generations and continents.  \nVienna’s new mini-EP We’ve Got You reflects the complexity of her life over the past decade: climate change work\, community building\, parenthood. Two songs\, each titled “We’ve Got You\,” act like fraternal twins: one an indie-pop tribute to inspiring leaders\, the other a chamber-folk paean to unsung caregivers. Played simultaneously\, they reveal a new intricate whole: a mashup by design\, and a love letter to social movements. \nAppropriately\, Vienna now also hosts climate action workshops on tour and online\, which participants have described as “rocket fuel” and “the perfect antidote to despair.” It’s an exciting new chapter in the ever-evolving love story between an artist and her audience.

SUMMARY:Steve Poltz
DESCRIPTION:It might’ve even been last night\, but Steve Poltz just played the greatest show of his life. Guess what? \nThe next show will be even greater\, making that show the greatest show of his life.  \nAre you starting to notice a trend?  \nHe isn’t shy about it either.  \nEven after most likely thousands of shows (but who’s counting?)\, he hits the stage with the same amount of energy and always makes sure to declare\, “This is the greatest show of my life.”  \nIt’s why he’s quietly emerged as the kind of live phenomenon celebrated passionately by a diehard fanbase worldwide and renowned as a festival favorite everywhere from Bluesfest in Byron Bay and High Sierra Music Festival in California and Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado to Cayamo Cruise (where he actually got married). It’s why his music has crept into pop culture via collaborations with everyone from Jewel and Billy Strings to Molly Tuttle\, Sierra Hull\, Nicki Bluhm\, Oliver Wood\, and even the late Mojo Nixon. It’s why after over a dozen albums\, he’s still creatively firing on all cylinders and critically acclaimed by the likes of Rolling Stone\, Associated Press\, Billboard\, and many more.  \nNevertheless\, the next gig will be the greatest show for him (and maybe for you too)…

Little in the arc of his career—including Fruit Bats’ evolution from home recording project to rollicking roadshow\, his solo output\, and his work with Bonny Light Horseman—points the way to this album\, in which his only accompaniment\, aside from the occasional blush of synthesizer\, is a guitar\, banjo\, or piano. Save for producer Thom Monahan\, reuniting with Johnson for the first time since Fruit Bats’ 2019 breakthrough Gold Past Life\, it’s just Johnson in the room\, meaning that when the turntable’s needle meets Baby Man’s groove\, it’s just him and the listener\, mutually in for a reckoning.

SUMMARY:Ladysmith Black Mambazo
DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nLet us tell you a story. An impossible to believe\, yet\, true story. Once upon a time there was a teenage boy working on his family farm in apartheid South Africa. The year was 1960. This boy loved to sing\, in fact he loved to sing so much that he allowed himself an impossible dream. In his dream he would create a group of singers\, from his family members\, to sing traditional South African songs. His group would perform all over South Africa and they would become the greatest music group his country would ever know. How could such a dream come to a young farm boy in a country rife with hardship\, violence and trouble? Well\, Joseph Shabalala was this young farm boy and his dream would become Ladysmith Black Mambazo.  \nThe year 2025 marks the 65th anniversary of Joseph Shabalala forming Ladysmith Black Mambazo. His group would not only conquer all of South Africa\, but would become a worldwide phenomenon\, winning more GRAMMY Awards (Five)\, and receiving more GRAMMY Award nominations (Nineteen)\, than any World Music group in the history of recorded music.  \nDuring the dark years of South African Apartheid\, Ladysmith Black Mambazo followed a path of peaceful protest through songs of hope and love. When Nelson Mandela was released from prison\, in 1990\, he said that Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s music was a powerful message of peace that he listened to while in jail. When Mandela was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize\, in 1993\, he asked the group to join him at the ceremony. It was Mandela who called Ladysmith Black Mambazo “South Africa’s Cultural Ambassadors to the World.”  \nThe group sings a traditional music style called isicathamiya (Is-Cot-A-Mee-Ya)\, which developed in the mines of South Africa. It was there that black workers were taken to work far away from their homes and families. Poorly housed and paid\, the mine workers would entertain themselves\, after a six-day work week\, by singing songs into the wee hours on Saturday night and Sunday. When the miners returned to their homes\, this musical tradition returned with them.  \nIn the mid-1980s\, American singer/songwriter Paul Simon famously visited South Africa and incorporated the group’s rich harmonies into his renowned Graceland album – a landmark recording considered seminal in introducing World Music to mainstream audiences. This brought the group to the attention of music lovers all over the world\, the beginning of a global musical career that shows no sign of ending.  \nAfter leading his group for over fifty years and approaching his seventy-fifth birthday\, Joseph Shabalala retired in 2014\, handing the leadership to his three sons\, Thulani\, Sibongiseni and Thamsanqa Shabalala. Having joined their father’s group in 1993\, their many years of training had prepared them in ways no others could be trained. Now\, carrying their father’s dream into the future\, the Shabalala Family continues the group’s success for the world to hear.  \nLadysmith Black Mambazo is Thulani Shabalala\, Sibongiseni Shabalala\, Thamsanqa Shabalala\, Msizi Shabalala\, Albert Mazibuko\, Abednego Mazibuko\, Mfanafuthi Dlamini\, Pius Shezi and Sabelo Mthembu.

DESCRIPTION:“One of America’s greatest living songwriters.” (Rolling Stone) Texas-based songwriter and guitarist James McMurtry is a supremely insightful and inventive storyteller whose fans include everyone from Stephen King to John Mellencamp. Funny and sad often in the same breath\, McMurtry teases vivid worlds out of small details\, crafting searingly honest lyrics set against a rock/Americana backdrop. The story-songs on that album find inspiration in scraps from his family’s past: a rough pencil sketch by Ken Kesey that serves as the album cover; the hallucinations experienced by his father\, the legendary writer Larry McMurtry; an old poem by a family friend. “A solid smorgasbord of aging\, Americana\, and arrested development.” (The Austin Chronicle) \nTwo performances\, 7:00pm and 9:30pm \nPRESENTING SPONSOR\nMatt and Nicole Lester

Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nA wise wizard once said: “when in doubt\, always follow your nose.”  \nThe last album from Penny and Sparrow\, Olly Olly\, was a work of revelation and liberation. A search for and an embrace of the self. I imagine they were left with a headscratcher of a question: well\, shit. Where do you go from there? \nFortunately\, they listened to the wizard and followed their noses backwards to find their way forward.  \nAiming to strip away pretense and invite experimentation\, they commandeered a garden shed from a friend and retrofitted it to make a twenty-track album that is vast\, weird\, and wholly unexpected.  \nIf Lefty is anything\, it is the journal of Penny and Sparrow’s inner child. Dog-eared\, lock busted open. On its pages the sketches of dreams\, nightmares\, erotica\, and literary fan fiction graffiti the margins of poetry\, elegies\, and love letters in the wild colors of saxophone blue\, electronic pink\, and blood harmony red.  \nBeautifully varied and richly rendered\, it is an album that wanders from theme to theme\, style to style\, exultation to tragedy. Yet it is never lost. If anything\, it is at play.  \nUnited by its intimate vocals and aching harmonies\, its acoustic laments trickle into ethereal pop only to surge into whimsical ballads and crest into grand hooligan anthems that sway gently down to familiar shores where melancholic ballads tell of love lost\, found\, forgotten\, and remembered.  \nAndy and Kyle have written some albums in blood. Others they’ve whispered to the sea. This one they danced in the sky with smiles on their faces. Lefty feels like not just a celebration of their journey beyond the bounds of their traditional genre\, but as if they have rediscovered the joy in music by honoring the sounds that inspired two boys growing up in Texas to one day make the damn stuff themselves. \n–Pierce Brown\, author and friend \nVIP includes:\nOne general admission ticket\nEarly entry into the venue\nAccess to an intimate pre-show soundcheck party (2-3 songs)\nQ&A with Penny & Sparrow\nLimited edition tour poster; autographed by Penny & Sparrow\nCrowd free merchandise shopping\nLimited availability \nEarly Entry includes:\nOne general admission ticket\nEarly entry into the venue\nLimited edition tour poster; autographed by Penny & Sparrow\nCrowd free merchandise shopping\nLimited availability

DESCRIPTION:Ticket prices on our website reflect all-in pricing for purchases made online or by phone.  This means the price you see includes the ticket price plus MUTO’s ticket processing fee. Tickets may be purchased with no included fees in person at The Ark during box office hours. \nFor over a decade\, David and Martin Howley have been at the heart of a musical revolution. As founding members of We Banjo 3\, the Galway-born brothers brought Irish traditional music to new heights — blending it with Americana\, bluegrass\, and contemporary songcraft to create a sound beloved across the world. Their electrifying live shows\, virtuosic playing\, and brotherly chemistry made We Banjo 3 one of the most celebrated acts on the international folk scene. \nNow\, the brothers return with a brand-new project: Howley — a re-imagining of that signature sound for a new era. With Martin’s dazzling mastery on banjo and mandolin and David’s unmistakable voice and rhythmic guitar\, Howley is both a continuation and a renewal — rooted in tradition but reaching fearlessly toward the future. \nJoined by two world-class artists\, Kiana June (fiddle\, vocals) and Caitlin Leahy (percussion\, flute\, vocals)\, Howley expands the brothers’ trademark sound with lush harmonies\, fiery fiddle\, and rhythmic flair. The result is warm\, vibrant\, and deeply human — a band that feels both comfortingly familiar and thrillingly new. \nMartin Howley\, a seven-time All-Ireland champion and the first Irish banjoist to perform on the Grand Ole Opry\, brings dazzling precision and playful charisma to every performance. \nDavid Howley\, known for his soulful voice and magnetic stage presence\, fuses the sensitivity of a songwriter with the power of a rock frontman. \nKiana June\, the “fiddle-fueled” virtuoso of Gaelic Storm and Come From Away\, infuses the music with both elegance and fire. \nCaitlin Leahy\, an accomplished multi-instrumentalist from the celebrated Leahy’s Luck family\, provides rhythmic heartbeat and shimmering vocal textures. \nTogether\, they form a sound built on connection — the pulse of family\, the spark of shared history\, and the joy of collaboration. \nWith Howley\, the brothers have created something new: music that celebrates their past but looks ahead with open arms. Their live show is full of laughter\, harmony\, and heart — the kind of energy that reminds audiences why they fell in love with folk music in the first place.
