SUMMARY:Skerryvore
DESCRIPTION:This show has been cancelled. Purchases made will be automatically refunded by MUTO. Contact MUTO at muto-tix@umich.edu with questions. \nCOVID-19 FAQ \nWith a mix of fiddle\, accordions\, pipes and whistles\, alongside guitar and vocals\, underpinned by driving bass\, drums and keys\, Skerryvore represent the best in contemporary Scottish traditional music. Their 6 studio albums demonstrate the wide range of influences the individual musicians bring to the mix – a unique fusion of folk\, trad\, rock and Americana\, with even some jazz in there! \nComfortable in the studio though the band are\, it’s on the road in front of a live audience that they really come into their own. Their live album\, recorded at Scottish venues in late 2019\, and released in summer 2020\, highlights this\, as well as giving a hint that there’s still much more to come for Skerryvore’s growing worldwide fanbase.

SUMMARY:Oliver Wood Trio
DESCRIPTION:This show has been rescheduled for May 11\, 2022. Tickets will be reissued automatically for the rescheduled date. Refunds will be available by request only no later than 30 days after the announcement of the new date. \nCOVID-19 FAQ \nOliver Wood is a mainstay of modern-day American roots music. The frontman of the Wood Brothers since 2004\, he’s spent the 21st century blurring the boundaries between folk\, gospel\, country-soul\, and Americana\, earning an international audience and a Grammy Award-nomination along the way. Always Smilin’\, his debut as a solo artist\, continues that tradition while also shining new light on Oliver’s sharp songwriting\, savvy guitar chops\, and a voice that evokes the swagger of a Saturday evening picking party one moment and the solemnity of a Sunday morning gospel service the next.

SUMMARY:The Yellow Room Gang
DESCRIPTION:This livestream event has been cancelled due to scheduling difficulties.  \nIt’s a night with eight of our favorite Michigan songwriters: “One Shining Moment” composer David Barrett\, Detroit native and Great American Song Contest winner Jim Bizer\, contemporary country-folk road warrior Annie Capps\, Irish-American chanteuse Kitty Donohoe\, four-time Detroit Music Award winner Jan Krist\, Michael Hough and David Tamulevich of the “Music to Cure What Ails You” duo Mustard’s Retreat\, and southeastern Michigan folk veteran Matt Watroba. The Yellow Room is the “brilliantly yellow” living room of Tamulevich’s house on Ann Arbor’s Old West Side\, where gang members meet monthly for musical brainstorming and mutual critique. Come and be a fly on the wall as the exchange of creative ideas flows freely! “To have any one of these songwriters perform at Trinity House is a real treat\,” says promoter Bill Keith. “To have them perform together is unbelievable.” The Yellow Room Gang has been around for over 15 years now\, with all the members coming up with new music all the while. \nFree to view – donations to the virtual tip jar in support of the artists and The Ark are appreciated.

SUMMARY:14th Annual Ebird & Friends Holiday Show
DESCRIPTION:This show has been cancelled. Refunds from point of purchase. Tickets purchased from MUTO will be automatically refunded. \nPlease Note: Proof of Vaccination is required for admission. By purchasing a ticket you agree that you and your guests will comply with all laws\, orders\, ordinances\, regulations and health and safety guidance adopted by the State of Michigan\, the County of Washtenaw and The Ark\, including any guidelines in place at the time of the show. Attendees who do not comply will be asked to leave. Policies will be updated as circumstances and requirements change in our community. Please review The Ark’s current COVID-related information before attending a show.  \nCOVID-19 FAQ \nIt happens in the middle of Michigan in the heart of December. Since 2007\, it has become a yearly tradition for The Ragbirds to present this unique family-friendly holiday show called Ebird & Friends. The songs and artists change from year to year\, but the spirit of the event is community\, the soul is creativity and the show is unforgettable. “Ebird” is Erin Zindle\, lead singer\, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist of The Ragbirds. Erin’s budding childhood love of music was sparked at Christmastime. The holidays were the one time each year that the entire Zindle family gathered to make music together\, and that early communal experience of music took deep roots. Fiddles\, horns\, bagpipes\, guitars\, and instruments from all over the world will be sounding their voices together in harmony. Expect to be entertained\, surprised\, cheered\, and warmed by this collaborative artistic performance of new and old songs\, including Ragbirds’ original songs inspired by the holiday. This show has become a phenomenon and it shows no signs of slowing down.

SUMMARY:A Winter's Night with DeVotchKa
DESCRIPTION:This show has been cancelled. Purchases made will be automatically refunded by MUTO. Contact MUTO at muto-tix@umich.edu with questions. \nA cross-pollination of numerous influences\, including cabaret\, spaghetti Westerns\, norteño\, punk\, and the immigrant dance music of Eastern Europe\, Colorado-based quartet DeVotchKa\, formed in Denver by multi-instrumentalists Nick Urata (vocals\, guitar\, trumpet)\, Tom Hagerman (violin\, accordion)\, Jeanie Schroder (sousaphone\, bass) and percussionist Shawn King\, emerged as unlikely indie heroes in the mid-2000s infusing modern indie music with a global flavor. \nThey found widespread success in 2006 with their Grammy-nominated soundtrack to the hit indie film Little Miss Sunshine. Signing with revered indie\, Anti-\, the band delivered A Mad and Faithful Telling in early 2008\, reaching the number nine slot on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. A lengthy world tour followed\, including stops at major festivals like Bonnaroo\, Lollapalooza\, and Bumbershoot. After doing more soundtrack work\, this time for the 2009 comedy I Love You Phillip Morris\, the group returned to the studio for 2011’s moody and triumphant 100 Lovers. Embarking on another world tour\, they collaborated with the Colorado Symphony on the 2012 concert album Live with the Colorado Symphony. Over the next several years\, Urata became increasingly involved in his own film composition career\, scoring movies like Crazy Stupid Love\, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot\, Paddington\, and the Netflix series A Series of Unfortunate Events. Meanwhile\, the band regrouped for a lengthy recording session\, eventually returning in 2018 with their sixth album\, This Night Falls Forever\, this time via Concord Records.

SUMMARY:Sonny Landreth
DESCRIPTION:The Sonny Landreth show scheduled for November 11\, 2021 has been rescheduled for July 14\, 2022. Tickets will be reissued when the date is rescheduled. Refunds will be available by request only no later than 30 days after the announcement of the new date. \nCOVID-19 FAQ \nAfter a dozen acclaimed albums\, virtuoso slide guitarist and bandleader Sonny Landreth found himself at an artistic crossroads. He wanted to finally create the full-length acoustic collection his fans had long requested. But he was also itching to capture the sound of his stalwart electric trio augmented by a couple of his favorite collaborators. And the time was certainly right for an elastic\, career-spanning double-live album. So Sonny and his longtime friends decided to do it all. “Recorded Live in Lafayette” is a 16-song opus that covers more musical ground than any single album ever could\, as the singer and songwriter’s work stretches and twists across 93 minutes of full-band acoustic and electric bottleneck lightning. You can get a taste of the magic without going to Lafayette right here at The Ark—Sonny Landreth is one of the great live guitarists of our time!
