Equally at home in an acoustic listening room as she is on stage at large music festivals\, Crys quickly gathered a loyal following on the East Coast playing such prestigious venues as the Sundance Film Festival\, The Birchmere\, The Hamilton\, and Jammin’ Java. A prolific lyricist\, Crys blends Americana\, folk\, jazz\, blues\, bluegrass\, and funk into a bold\, complex performance steeped in traditional melodies punctuated by honest\, original lyrics. “I believe in hope\,” Matthews says of her latest album\, “Changemakers.” “As a social-justice songwriter\, it is my duty to keep breathing that hope and encouragement into the people who listen to my music.” And\, from the title track to the last track\, “Changemakers” does just that all while tackling some heavy topics like immigration\, the opioid crisis\, Black Lives Matter\, and gun safety to name a few.
