Please review The Ark’s current COVID-related information before attending a show.
Mike Gentry and Chickenwire Canoe will be debuting their new Rock Opera, Joey Wendt. Written in real time from the beginning of the pandemic through the fallout of the last election, the story is told through the eyes of Joey Wendt — a middle-aged, stockboy and member of the rock band, Chickenwire Canoe — whose carefree life, dramatically altered by the pandemic, sets out on his quest for the truth, leading him into darkness.
Chickenwire Canoe is Mike Gentry, Brian Delaney, Tim Delaney and Tony Mitchell.
Mike Vial, Ann Arbor singer-songwriter and teacher, returns to the Ark with a trio. He recently completed his first year teaching at Community High School–his 19th year as an educator.
Like you, he’s found himself changed by the pandemic, especially as a parent of small children and educator of young adults. His songwriting addressing universal themes of family, love, loss, hope, and peace mark that moment of time when we all slowed down, stayed home, and decided who we wanted to be on the other side of the world’s challenges. Mike’s songs offer some roads to that answer.
