Brand new Mavericks!
When The Mavericks came on the scene in the 1990s, they already had a sound that didn't fit the usual categories. Lead vocalist Raul Malo had a luxuriant voice that brought to mind Roy Orbison. The Mavericks were a country band, but there was always more to the Mavericks than country: a Latin tinge, seriously ambitious songwriting, and a big dose of pure pop passion. Raul's Ark shows over the past decade have lingered in the memories of listeners and the club staff alike, but better still, The Mavericks returned in 2013 after a long hiatus, and they've done memorable shows that have enthralled old and new fans alike. They come to Michigan with a new album, "Brand New Day," that combines positive political messages with a genre-crossing musical mix.
This show is co-presented by AEG Live and The Ark. It takes place at The Royal Oak Music Theatre, 318 W. Fourth St., Royal Oak, MI.
