Great guitar slingers enshrined in Ark lore

It may not have been part of the original folk music concept, but The Ark has become known far and wide for evenings of music featuring the guitar greats of our time. We've explored guitar styles from all over the U.S. and around the world, and guitarists love to come here—they know The Ark takes care with the sound, and that audiences will really pay attention to what they're doing in the club's intimate atmosphere. In this 50th anniverary show, we're celebrating this aspect of The Ark's programming with four fabulous guitarists who represent a little bit of the range of guitar music we've heard: Commander Cody guitarist (and wickedly funny country songwriter) Bill Kirchen, longtime Merle Haggard guitarist Redd Volkaert (who did a sensational set in June with Robbie Fulks at The Ark), fierce songwriter-guitarist Erin McKeown (who has a new acoustic album, "Civics"), and up-and-coming Michigan blues-roots sensation Laith Al-Saadi.
