The Celtic event of the season in metro Detroit!

Description

Mick Gavin's  Crossroads Ceili has become an annual holiday tradition at The Ark, internationally renowned folk club in An Arbor, Michigan. Featuring the best of local Irish traditional musicians joined by national guests, the Ceili is hailed as an event that Irish trad aficionados anticipate all year long.
This year's ceili, Saturday December 26th and Sunday, December 27th, will feature Sean Gavin, acclaimed Irish flutist and uillean piper, known for his brilliant work with the celebrated young trad groups Bua and NicGaviskey.  Sean also plays with the Irish international group Teada, and is the musical director of the new Irish dance show "Atlantic Steps" and musical director of Paddy Homan's "I am Ireland" produced by Michael Londra. Currently touring with fiddler Oisin MacDiarmada's  "An Irish Christmas in America"  he will be returning to his home town of Redford, Michigan in time for the holiday season.
The Ceili is truly a cross of traditional Irish music with its close relatives from around the world.  Representing those traditions at the ceili this season will be Ben Luttermoser (guitar, bass, vocals) and Rachel Pearson (vocals, bass, fiddle) from "Behind the Times", a local bluegrass group who frequently hold court at the iconic  Detroit dive bar, "Tom's Tavern".  Opened in 1928 it is one of the oldest establishments in metro Detroit..   And back by popular demand, on Sunday night only, the MacLeod and Rankin families will play traditional Scottish music from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.
And of course the famous "Crossroads Ceili Band"  featuring Mick Gavin from County Clare, Ireland on fiddle and melodean; son Michael Gavin (fiddle, tenor banjo, vocals); Colleen Shanks (flute, tin whistle, uillean pipes); Kelsey Lutz (fiddle) joined by Sean Gavin and featuring Randy Gosa (guitar, bouzouki, vocals) from the Milwaukee Trad group "Myserk" will be performing their usual selection of lively Irish jigs, reels, hornpipes and songs.
Tickets to this spectacular annual holiday event are $15 with a dinner show combination for $25 available from the Ark or from Conor O'Neill's, the Irish restaurant next door to the Ark. Dinner/show combo must be purchased in advance.  Doors open at 7 pm, show starts at 7:30 pm.  For further information phone 313 537-3489 or the Ark at 734 761-1800.
