About The Ark:
The Ark is a non-profit organization dedicated to the enrichment of the human spirit through the presentation, preservation and encouragement of folk, roots and ethnic music and related arts. The Ark provides a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all people to listen to, learn about, perform and share music.
The Ark was founded in 1965, and nightly club operations have been performed primarily by a group of volunteers for 47 years. This is an amazing feat and is testimony to the importance of The Ark in the community, as well as the great appreciation The Ark has for it’s volunteers. Currently, The Ark presents over 300 shows each year.
The Ark has 7 full time staff positions including an executive director, 4 part time night managers, a volunteer board of directors, as well as club and tech volunteers.
Club volunteers work nightly as front of house concessions sales people, artist merchandise sellers, ushers, etc.
Tech volunteers lead and/or assist with the load in, stage set up, sound check, concert and load out of shows. Skilled volunteer techs serve as our house sound technician on any shows not covered by this contracted position. The volunteer tech position is the same in task and skill expectations as this contracted position.
As our concert programming develops and changes, and our volunteer roster increases and decreases over time, we are looking to fill this contracted position in order to create stability in the scheduling of a house technician each night at The Ark.
