Roots blues from the Mississippi Hill Country
What would Zingerman's annual bacon festival be without some down-home Southern sounds? This year's musical guest for Camp Bacon's special Ark show is North Mississippi bluesman Kenny Brown. Kenny was born in Selma, Alabama, in 1953, and grew up in Nesbit in the northwestern corner of Mississippi. He soaked up the blues from great area musicians like Junior Kimbrough, Joe Callicott, and R.L. Burnside. He started playing in Burnside's band when he was 18, and his own show is steeped in the traditions of the Mississippi Hill Country without being derivative of the style of any single musician. Proceeds from tonight's show benefit the Southern Foodways Alliance.
