"Enduring free spirits of Southern rock"
Little Feat was the original surrealistic Southern rock band, a group of 1970s free spirits who inspired many of the American musicians of today -- including the Dixie Chicks, who took their name from Little Feat's "Dixie Chicken" album of 1973, and Bonnie Raitt, whose decision to move to California was directly inspired by the band's music. With changes in personnel after the death of founder Lowell George, they've hung on and prospered, recently creating their own Hot Tomato label to try to capture on disc the wild imagination of their live shows. Little Feat’s music transcends boundaries. It's a freewheeling fusion of West Coast rock and Dixie-inflected funk-boogie. In the mix as well are strains of folk, blues, rockabilly, country and jazz, creating a hybrid sound that is truly Little Feat’s own. Everyone should experience Little Feat at least once. They tend to become habit-forming -- and they frequently sell out at The Ark, which is why we're letting you know about this show ahead of time!
