"'The cutting edge of folk rock' -- Greenman Review"
The Minneapolis trio of Steve Lehto, John Wright and Matt Jacobs have created a unique blend of traditional and modern styles. Taking cues from the Irish, English, and American folk traditions, interpreting traditional materials with contemporary guitar-based arrangements, and blending it all with a healthy dose of original composition, Lehto and Wright play sets that range all over the map, from Irish tunes to African-American spirituals. They play great guitar-mandolin duets, sometimes adding Matt Jacobs on percussion for a unique folk-rock edge. If your tastes run to either Celtic sounds or progressive rock and are curious about a band that puts them together, you're in for a treat. Dirty Linen ranks Lehto & Wright "among North America's best practitioners of Anglo-Celtic folk-rock." They've just released a new album, "A Children's Song." The Raisin Pickers, Manchester, Michigan's delightfully eclectic band of of old-time instrumentalists, open the show.
The Raisin Pickers open this evening's show.
