"A soulful original"
New Mexico–born, New York–based Raul Midón draws on a rich tradition of pop inventiveness, combining the beguiling soulfulness of Stevie Wonder, the inventive mix of world musical elements pioneered by Paul Simon and the sensuous individuality of Bill Withers. Blind since birth, Midón is the son of an African American mother and an Argentine father. He's an extraordinary original whose passion is expressed in his unforgettable songs and in one-of-a-kind acoustic guitar stylings that draw on jazz and flamenco music. "There isn't that much originality in pop these days, because everybody trying to sound like what they think might fit into the narrow formats on radio. But the best pop is as important as any music," Raul notes. He comes to The Ark with a new album, the aptly titled "Synthesis."
