"Fresh new songwriting voices for free!"
At no cost to you, The Ark brings rising artists from all around the country! Carrie Elkin, who calls herself a troubadour in the most classic fashion, has ridden a gypsy breeze of serendipity around the U.S., finally settling in Austin. Carrie was recently chosen as a Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist. With the vocal fire of Patti Griffin and the lyrical rawness of Rickie Lee Jones, she has gained fans across the pond as well as at home: "Her voice is simply revelatory" says the venerable English music rag Folkwax. Sweet Talk Radio is the sweet Los Angeles duo of Kathrin Shorr and Tim Burlingame, who are wife and husband. Their spare yet pop-oriented folk songs have been heard in television series like " Army Wives" and "Joan of Arcadia," and they've opened for Shawn Colvin, Colin Hay, Glen Phillips, and Kelly Joe Phelps. Their album "My Hallelujah," recorded at their home studio, draws on the dynamic combination of Shorr's passionate vocals and Burlingame's spacious guitar.
