"Poetic pop-folk from Dublin"
Over the past several years, Mick Lynch and Kevin May of the Irish pop/folk act The Guggenheim Grotto have touched U.S. and U.K. audiences in a way the duo could never have imagined at the start. Starting out as Dublin songwriter circuit regulars alongside artists like Damien Rice and Glen Hansard, they have built a devoted cult following in the U.S. with warm embraces from the media. The band has captivated audiences and tastemakers on both sides of the pond with its mix of poetic, often literature-inspired lyrics with soaring, timeless soaring pop melodies, often touched by electronics. Tonight's opening act, Tiger Cooke, is one of Ireland's hottest young musicians, with a style he calls soul-inflected dark-folk. The Irish Times raved that his debut album, "Wax & Seal," crosses "so many terrains that your musical compass may quiver with the sheer magnetic challenge."
Tiger Cooke opens this evening's show.
