"Blues harp legends in a touring revue"
Oakland, California blues harmonica player Mark Hummel is a road warrior--a true blues survivor! Since settling in northern California in 1972 he has crafted his own trademark harmonica sound. Since 1991 Mark has been producing an annual Blues Harmonica Blowout series, with guests that have made blues harp history. Tonight's show brings a trio of fabulous blues harpists. Billy Boy Arnold is a giant of Chicago blues, a contemporary of James Cotton and Junior Wells and a student of John Lee "Sonny Boy" Williamson. Billy Branch is a veteran Chicago sideman who has played with Willie Dixon's Chicago Blues All-Stars and has recorded with his own group, the Sons of the Blues, for the Alligator, Red Beans, Verve, and Evidence labels. And Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, born in the delta town of Helena, Arkansas, was a member of the legendary Muddy Waters band for nearly two decades.
