"An acoustic Americana trio--from overseas!"
The Greencards -- one English fiddler and two Australian singer-instrumentalists -- push the boundaries of Americana and bluegrass music, creating a sound that's all their own. Formed in Austin in 2004, they've toured with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson. Fiddler Eamon McLoughlin, vocalist Carol Young, and mandolinist Kym Warner are amazing virtuoso talents, but the trio is equally adept at sad, inward-looking numbers that draw from alternative country and folk styles. "If you like Nickel Creek and the Dixie Chicks--bands that can really play and sing--then you’ll love the Greencards," says Kevin Connor of Austin's KGSR-FM radio. Signed to the Sugar Hill label and now based in Nashville, the 'Cards have a new album, "Fascination," that the Austin Chronicle calls "one of the most inventive discs you'll hear this year."
