"Bluegrass old and new from Kalamazoo
"
Winners of the 2006 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition, Michigan's own Greensky Bluegrass is a growing force in acoustic roots music. A unique fusion of chops in the pure bluegrass style and enthusiasm for improvisation has come to define the Greensky Bluegrass style and set it apart from traditional bluegrass on one hand and jam-band music on the other. Greensky Bluegrass has released four studio CDs as well as a "Live at Bell's" disc, but the concert experience is central to what they do. Greensky Bluegrass has shared stages with acts including Ralph Stanley, Peter Rowan and Tony Rice Quartet, the Yonder Mountain String Band, The Avett Brothers, Darrell Scott, King Wilkie, and the David Grisman Quintet. They've broken out nationally during the past year with a return visit to Telluride and tours of the Far West and South, and they have a brand new album on the way!
