"A very rare small-club date!"
The name came from a Monty Python skit, but the sound of Toad the Wet Sprocket is unique. The band's guitar rock is mellowed by folky mandolins and guitars, and their songs are paragons of thinking person's pop. Says Elle magazine: "“The band's distinctive sound--a tingling blend of folk and rock--remains as enchanting as its name." Toad albums like "Pale," "Fear," and "Dulcinea" were mixtape staples (remember mixtapes?) for anyone coming of age in the 1990s, and the band's sense of wonder at life's riches helped break alternative rock out of its dead end of irony. Toad the Wet Sprocket broke up in 1998 but has reunited periodically for worthwhile events like the 2008 Ann Arbor Folk Festival, and we're excited to welcome them back for a rare club appearance. Opening the evening will be Adam Ezra.
