"Teng's voice and piano skills will knock you out. --Sports Illustrated"
The San Jose Mercury News likened Vienna Teng to "a child of Chopin and Sarah McLachlan," and she took her first name in adulthood as an homage to the city of Mozart and Beethoven. She writes songs so graceful and memorable that you realize only slowly how personal and confessional they really are. Teng has been writing songs and playing the piano since she was six, and by now her silvery piano stylings seem intricately woven into her soothing vocals. A few years ago Vienna Teng came to southeastern Michigan for the first time--and we fell in love. This artist has a real bond with Michigan audiences and tends to sell out The Ark while most of you are just gearing up to buy tickets. Come to see Teng's new show, and you can pick up a copy of her hot-off-the-presses release "Inland Territory"--just five days old as of April 14. Her special guest is songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ben Sollee, most recently seen at The Ark as part of Abigail Washburn's Sparrow Quartet.
