"Legendary folk-jazz style!"
Since the early 1960s, Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks (and Lickettes) have deftly blended elements of swing, jazz, folk, country, "acid mariachi," and goodness knows what else to create the appealing sound he sometimes calls "Folk Jazz." The lyrics of his songs range from the simply sublime to the sublimely ridiculous. This January night is a night to celebrate--Dan Hicks & The Hot Licks are coming to down with a brand new CD under their belts. The CD (working title: "Tangled Tales") is being produced by Grammy winner Chris Goldsmith (Blind Boys of Alabama), and it's Dan's first album of original material since 2004's "Selected Shorts." There'll also be plenty of other slightly off-kilter (but never off-key) material from a singer-songwriter who's a true American original!
