"A new songwriting star, steeped in the classics"
Singer-songwriter Amos Lee grew up in Philadelphia and went to college in South Carolina, honing a gritty voice and getting to know the roots of American music along the way. His songs are steeped in influences from classic artists like Bill Withers, John Prine, Stevie Wonder, and Neil Young. But like his fellow country-soul-folk-jazz singer Norah Jones, who discovered him, Lee puts it all together into something personal. Fresh off a few years of touring with the likes of Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and Merle Haggard, Amos Lee has a brand-new album, "Last Days at the Lodge" (produced by Don Was) and a reputation that's headed for the skies. He appears tonight with his Blue Note labelmate and former backup vocalist, the ethereal southern California songwriter Priscilla Ahn.
