"'Mind-blowing Irish folk music, maybe the world's best'--Philadelphia Inquirer"
This all-star conglomeration of Irish and Irish-American musicians is the creation of multi-instrumentalist Seamus Egan, a restlessly creative soul who was born in Pennsylvania and raised partly in Foxford, County Mayo. With a repertoire rooted firmly in traditional dance music, Solas adds exciting instrumental spices and contemporary songwriting influences. Their fans beyond the Celtic sphere include hip-hop producer Timbaland, who sampled their music on his megahit "All Y'all." Solas came together in 1996 with no plans to tour or record, but popular demand led to international appearances and a series of acclaimed recordings. Their new CD, "For Love and Laughter," was recorded in Philadelphia, Louisiana, and Ireland, and features fabulous special guests including the Duhks, Natalie Haas, and Dirk Powell.
