"'One of the finest singer-songwriters in Texas'--New York Times"
Rounder-label artist Slaid Cleaves tells compact, perfectly worded stories in song. Like Patty Griffin, Slaid was born in Maine and is now based in Austin. His work, says the Wall Street Journal, "recalls the work of Lyle Lovett and Steve Earle, but with his own acerbic style." After a stint working as a pharmaceutical guinea pig and a long climb up through open-mic nights and small clubs, he's become a top Texas talent. Slaid has been writing music for a new album, tentatively called "Hard to Believe." It's a good album title for the man who sings the words "I've been chasing grace, but grace ain't so easily found."
