"Eclectic young rock bands with stories to tell"
Virginia Coalition, known to its legions of fans as VACO, has toured with the Dave Matthews Band and grown its audience consistently for most of a decade with its catchy yet reflective rock tunes in which, to quote Paste magazine, "irony takes a holiday." Each of the band's three members can play all of the array of instruments they bring on stage. VACO's new album, "Home This Year," has been winning critical raves." The Alternate Routes are a young, dynamic rock band from Bridgeport, Connecticut, with a strong orientation toward songwriting and storytelling. Their debut album, "Good and Reckless and True," is filled with compact melodies, personal lyrics, dark sarcasm, and a wide palette of human emotions. Working with Nashville producer Jay Joyce, who has helmed projects by Patty Griffin and John Hiatt among others, the Alternate Routes are an important roots-rock band on the rise.
