"Cajun royalty!"
Steve Riley & The Mamou Playboys have been enthusiastic ambassadors of Cajun music ever since Riley left the band of the great Dewey Balfa to strike out on his own in 1988. Unusually versatile, they both push Cajun music forward and pay tribute to its French roots. Balfa wasn't the only influence on Steve's style: he plays a single-row diatonic instrument made by his cousin, famed accordionist Marc Savoy. If you kicked up your heels to Steve Riley & The Mamou Playboys at the Townie Street Party in July, you know how much fun this band can be. But if you haven't experienced their music yet, here's your chance to sit at the feet of Cajun royalty.
