"'Ms. Speace knows how to rip your heart out and shred it to pieces.'--Zeitgeist Scot"

Amy Speace lives with two tickhounds, June and Maybelle, in Jersey City, New Jersey, across from the Statue of Liberty. Her tough, complex lyrics, combined with absolutely infectious country, folk, and pop tunes, have made her a New York City phenomenon and have gained her a grass-roots fan base around the country. (She does a pretty amazing countrified version of Blondie's "Dreaming," too.) Amy and her band, the Tearjerks, have played such major New York venues as Town Hall, but we haven't had much of a chance to hear her in southeastern Michigan. That's all about to change! Says Lonesome Music: "If you're a fan of Lucinda Williams / Caitlin Cary / Rosanne Cash, then give this girl a whirl and wonder why you haven't heard of her before . . ."
Opening this evening will be Dave Boutette.
