"New folk voices from northwest Lower Michigan"
From a farm in Lake City, Michigan, near Cadillac come Seth Bernard and May Erlewine, young songwriters with commitment and more than a bit of charm. Performing separately and together, they make music that feels intimate and genuine, as if you've been invited into their living room to listen. You may have known May Erlewine as Daisy May--but she was May Erlewine to begin with, and now she's sticking with that. In the words of the Harvard Independent, she has "the sort of soul-baring voice that moves the Alan Lomaxes of the world to abandon the ivory tower for the back roads of rural America." Seth Bernard is an expert small-body guitarist at home with jazz-influenced songs as well as straight-ahead folk. Both of these singers are evolving rapidly and gaining fans far beyond the mitten, and we're anxious to hear what they've been up to lately.
Tonight's show is sponsored by Maggie's Functional Organics.
