"A down-home funkgrass jam!"
The "down-home funkgrass" of southeastern Michigan's own Back Forty has been taking Michigan by storm, and the rest of the Midwest is rapidly catching on. With their unique blend of traditional instrumentation combined with wild improvisation, this eclectic jam band can go from bluegrass to psychedelic rock to deep funk in zero seconds flat. Starting as a sparse acoustic duet over four years ago, the band has evolved in an electric direction. Their sound has been compared to fellow jammers Phish and the Dave Matthews Band, but the members of Back Forty pride themselves on strong original material; the band has five songwriters, each with distinctive vocals that combine for some slick harmonies. Back Forty comes to town with a great new album, "Big Orange Tent."
