"Acoustic music's cutting edge"
The most vital acoustic music being made today acknowledges its predecessors and still lives in the here and now. For four years now, the Duhks (pronounced Ducks), the band of five skilled, high-energy, tattooed 20-somethings from Winnipeg, Manitoba, has been riveting audiences with a beautifully organic blend of soul, gospel, folk, samba, old-time country, bluegrass, zydeco, and Irish dance music. The Duhks have been finishing a new album, and we can't wait to hear their next stage. Two special guests are going to warm up the house. Toronto singer-songwriter and guitarist Luke Doucet has won raves for his story songs and "evocative and quite fearless guitar work" (Toronto Star). And New Jersey–raised songwriter Jenny Owen Youngs describes her music as "an echo of Erin McKeown hopping into Jeff Buckley's Pontiac, cruising backwoods Alabama red dirt roads and singing along to The Sundays and Nick Drake."
