With International Bluegrass Music Association awards numbering in the dozens, the Del McCoury Band stands today at an artistic peak matched by few others in bluegrass history. Rooted in tradition, they put the blues in bluegrass like no one else since Del McCoury's mentor Bill Monroe, and they incorporate songs from other traditions with an ease that is a mark of total mastery. The Del McCoury Band, more than any other traditional bluegrass ensemble, has taken the music to new generations, gaining legions of new fans at festivals of rock and Americana music. Last May they added the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival to their resume. We could go on about their amazing ensemble skills and their unique microphone technique, but the bottom line is this: Nobody does bluegrass better!
