"A legendary Americana partnership"
Teenage mandolin prodigy and singer Chris Hillman met vocalist and string player extraordinaire Herb Pedersen at a "hoot nite" at the Troubadour club in West Hollywood in 1963. Both soon went on to bigger things: Hillman to a groundbreaking little group called the Byrds, and Pedersen to a long career fronting some great bluegrass bands and backing everyone from Linda Ronstadt to Vince Gill. But they never stopped performing together, and they like to say that their now-40-plus-year-old musical partnership "has lasted longer than most Hollywood marriages." Together, they're living embodiments of many of the musical movements that collectively make up the Americana genre today: country rock, alternative country, progressive bluegrass, and folkie psychedelia. Their duo show is a free-thinking, freeform delight--listen for their uniquely evocative Appalachian-Celtic version of "Eight Miles High," with Pedersen on high harmony.
