Beppe Gambetta has almost singlehandedly popularized flatpicking throughout Europe, and his own acoustic guitar style is a distinctive thing that mixes American techniques with the tradition of string playing in Gambetta's native Italy. An outgoing player and vocalist who can bring an audience to its feet with his solos, Beppe Gambetta is a guitar god of a different kind. He recently toured with Tony Rice and sat in on the reunion of the legendary bluegrass band Country Gazette at the Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival, but his concert programs offer an unclassifiable mix of American and European roots styles.
