"New pop songwriting in Cincinnati and New York flavors"
Songstress, poet, and multimedia maven Rachael Sage, from Manhattan's East Village, got a four-track recorder as a Bat Mitzvah present and has been making gutsy, compelling pop music ever since. A grand prize winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and a formidable improviser at the keyboard, Rachael has opened for Judy Collins and Joan Osborne at the Wildflower Fest. The Village Voice has praised her "lovely and literate folk-pop-rock," and she says her latest album, "The Blistering Sun," is devoted to "the topics of vision, clarity, and facing life head on. "From Cincinnati comes Ellery, husband-and-wife duo of Justin and Tasha Golden. They've crisscrossed the US in support of such acts as Hem, Edwin McCain, Vienna Teng, and Pierce Pettis with what Cincinnati CityBeat called "airy yet organic pop," and they took home the top prize at the Mountain Stage NewSong International songwriting contest.
