"'Sly, soul-tinged Americana'--Miami New Times"
Chuck Prophet has been a maverick creative force since his days with the great alternative band Green On Red. His surname fits him pretty well--he's been on top of and often ahead of many of the creative impulses in roots music over the last 15 years. It's his real name--"If I was going to pick my name, I wouldn't have picked Prophet, that's for sure," he jokes. Chuck has been called a thinking man's rocker for his mixture of Stones grooves, innovative arrangements that evolve every time he plays, and lyrics that give you something to chew on. The opener for Alejandro Escovedo's last show at The Ark, Chuck is back with a new album, "Soap and Water," on the Yep Roc label.
