"The funniest blues around"
Going to the bar to hear Duke Tumatoe with his bands the All-Star Frogs and then the Power Trio was just about an essential part of a college education in the 1970s and 1980s. And Duke is still at it, logging over 200 shows and 60,000 miles a year with his blend of comedy and great blues musicianship. Born Bill Florio, he grew up on Chicago's South Side among the greats of Chicago electric blues. His fans know he's not all about the joke. "There's a great deal of musical ability in the band," Tumatoe says. They focus on the music, "just as much as on the twists in the lyrical content." In addition to hits like "Tie You Up," expect songs from Duke's recent album, "You've Got the Problem!" Tumatoe promises "a good time, a little mischief, and a lot of great music."
