Contemporary Songwriters & Groups |
"A female songwriter supergroup!"
The Refugees are Cindy Bullens, Deborah Holland, and Wendy Waldman: a new supergroup consisting of three critically acclaimed singer- songwriters who accompany each other with instruments, harmony vocals, high energy, humor, and stellar musicianship all around. The Refugees represent a rare convergence of talent. Each artist performs her own songs, accompanied by the other two on guitars, bass, melodica, keyboards, percussion, mandolin, and harmonica. The result is an alchemy of creativity that throws a new light on three exceptional bodies of work. The Refugees have been described as a female version of Crosby, Stills & Nash with humor, and they're just wrapping up their debut CD, "Unbound."
Tonight's special guest is Dan Navarro, one half of the much-loved California singer-songwriter duo Lowen & Navarro. Dan, the cousin of guitarist Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction, the Red Hot Chili Peppers), serves as president of the board of directors of the Folk Alliance and has been a friend to songwriters far and wide.
