"An Austin country-rock rave!"
Possibly the only band ever to have named both AC/DC and Emmylou Harris as influences, Austin's Mother Truckers are anchored by the married singing and songwriting pair of Josh Zee and Teal Collins. They came from San Francisco originally, but their Stones-groove twang has won over audiences in a very competitive town, and the Austin Chronicle recently called them practically the house band of the city's legendary South Congress Street. With songs that are happy and fun but also show lots of craft, they put on a superb live show. The Mother Truckers (that pun was all over the Western swing of the 1930s, by the way) were named Best Roots Rock Band at the 2007 Austin Music Awards.
