Krista Detor defies genre, but she's been compared with Leonard Cohen, Laura Nyro, Tom Waits, Kate Bush, Suzanne Vega, and Joni Mitchell--high praise by which she has been neither inflated nor intimidated. Krista has lived in the southern U.S., the Midwest, and Europe, and she weaves together these regional cultural influences into a continuous pattern. She's been featured at the Cannes Film Festival, on German, Dutch, and Belgian national radio, and on NPR, and in addition to her two internationally successful CDs she has collaborated with Carrie Newcomer and other Indiana songwriters on the well-reviewed stage show, short-story collection, and CD "Wilderness Plots." Accompanying herself on piano, Krista Detor writes songs that the UK publication Womenfolk calls "thick and rich with mood and clarity."
