"'A national treasure'--Living Blues"
Many people call Magic Slim and the Teardrops the last of the true Chicago blues bands, but they've inspired so many younger musicians that the tradition is now in good hands. Magic Slim's raw vocals and guitar combine with the heavy rhythmic groove of his band to make a sound that's pure hardcore urban blues. Born in Mississippi himself, Magic Slim learned from Muddy Waters, Otis Rush, and the other great musicians who electrified the blues but kept one foot in the Delta all their lives. Well over six feet tall, Magic Slim still delivers a powerhouse evening of the blues like nobody else around! The greasy, visceral blues of Magic Slim and the Teardrops is preserved on his recent Blind Pig release, "Anything Can Happen," and that title certainly applies to Magic Slim's live shows!
